Patricia (the owner) was very friendly and welcoming and full of stories and advice. She made us feel very special. The property was homely and we settled in quickly, making use of the ample space. Easy access to beaches and mountains meant we were spoilt for choice for daytime, and the comfy sofas, garden furniture and numerous dining tables meant games, dining and map scrutinising were all easy and fun. A great holiday, even with inclement weather!!!

We had the most wonderful break. The house is amazing, it's huge! Every bedroom is spacious, light and airy. A lovely lawn to sit on it next to, right next to a working farm. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend this property.

Lovely old quaint farmhouse. Kitchen very well equipped, beds very comfortable, loads of space. Plenty of hot water. Patricia, the owner, gave us a lovely welcome and was a great host. The village of Gosforth was walkable, with 3 pubs there. Good food in the one we tried. We were there for a family anniversary get together, 8 of us with a toddler and a dog, it was perfect.

Had a lovely 2 nights here, booked as was near Scafell pike which we had gone to climb. The host was lovely checking that we were comfortable and had everything we needed, even checked on us after our climb to see how we had got on. The house was very spacious but at the same time cosy and homely, had everything we needed including piping hot water for 6 adults to each have a lovely hot bath. Is an idea base for anyone wanting to explore the lovely area around. And local pubs and a shop within walking distance.

Exceptional house with a homely touch. Very spacious for the whole family. The owners were very welcoming. We really enjoyed our stay. The area was great for walks, or go further afield for roaming around the fells, then a meal in a cosy pub, perfect. We visited the beach at St Bees, walked around Ennerdale and Buttermere Lakes, found a castle in Egremont and shopping in Keswick.

Had a lovely long weekend at Father’s House. Owner was very friendly and introduced herself when we arrived. Very big rooms and all had a close, accessible bathroom. It did get cold during the night, but that’s to be expected of such a large, older house. Would really recommend The Lion and The Lamb in Gosforth Village for food and drinks.

For the size of the property and the location it was good, but the house smelt damp and was very cold . There were storage heaters in each room that randomly came on during the but still cold. We were told not to draw the curtains in the hall and landing as the rails were old and frail! There was only one working shower for the four bedrooms and they were in need of some work. The kitchen was very basic and had a missing cupboard door. The utility room was damp and the Down stairs toilet was covered in black mold. The washing machine when I used it had a horrible smell and my clothes were stuck for over a day as the door jammed shut after the wash and I couldn't get them out. The property has great potential and we are sad to said we left a day early as we had enough.

The house was so much bigger than we expected but also managed to be warm and cosy. The bed was fabulous. Great access to the western lakes and lovely location to help us catch up with friends.

A fabulous place to stay- wonderful hostess

First few days it rained but didn't let this put us off going anywhere. Cottage was cosy & plenty of room for 6 adults 1 teenager & 2 dogs. The cottage could do with being updated with more showers in en-suites.
