    The house suited us for our family gathering at Xmas. The location is a little remote if you want attractions but if prepared to travel its not a problem. Cleanliness where it mattered was good, however several items mainly upstairs were dusty due to a recent repair to the ceiling.

    This was a lovely cottage, it was homely, comfortable, huge and we only had one complaint and this caused us to agree that we would not revisit this cottage again. On the advert it states that the cottage has WiFi, this was a big reason we booked this cottage in particular as WiFi was important because we all had work or school things we needed to access online. When we got to the property it took us over 24 hours to connect to the WiFi and when we were able to access it the only area you could connect was in the kitchen. This caused lots of issues and altered our enjoyment of the holiday. We were all frustrated as the advert said nothing about a WiFi issue yet one of the first things the homeowner told us was that there was a WiFi issue within the property. The homeowners were lovely about it but it was a annoying disappointment. Due to the lack signal at the property, the lack of WiFi meant that occasionally were were completely out of contact with people when we really needed to be (this caused an issue of safety). A small issue was that the DVD player didn’t work, this wouldn’t really have mattered however without WiFi we struggled to have relaxed evenings in the cottage.

    Lovely old converted farm building .very spacious and comfortable .great hosts .great area - convenient for beaches .mountains and lakes with shop , pubs and restaurants a short walk away . Very lucky with weather also !

    What is not to like about the Lake district and all that is within, We came as a group of 7 with dogs to walk. The Lakeland coast particularly Drigg, Seascale and St Bees ,is fantastic. At low tide the beach is endless and the dogs love it. Gosforth village beautiful with an amazing back-drop, with good Restaurants and a hand local store. The Lakes are all within relatively easy travelling distance but be warned, if you are not familiar with the winding county lanes, a mile here is truly a mile and always presume there is a car/tractor/rambler/horse-rider/cyclist/sheep/ pheasant/ duck or all of the aforementioned round the next bend BUT with scenery like that, what's the hurry, take your time and enjoy the views. And now for the accommodation, the house is plenty large enough for 8, with ample room to not be in each others company continuously and therefore you don't feel overcrowded and claustrophobic. The bathroom and en-suites give ample facilities to avoid queuing and the dining room is one of those rooms where you're quite content to sit post meal with a glass of wine /beer/Whisky/sherry and just chat and relax .The garden is great and a sun trap in the afternoon with the trees providing a nice shield from all but the strongest of winds. The Hosts,are most probably the nicest genuine people you are fortunate enough to meet and they make you feel like an old friend returning and this just makes the experience all the more enjoyable and relaxing. We had the Fathers House for 1 week in the middle of August and to be honest, the weather was not the kindest however, I am generally an outdoor type of person and not made of sugar, after all this is the UK and the wettest part of the UK and I willingly booked my holiday to go there and without a single regret. I came home relaxed and would willingly go back to Fathers House, regardless. the House, Farm, Village, Coast and Lakes all make it well worth the visit Thank You Mr & Mrs R

    Patricia (the owner) was very friendly and welcoming and full of stories and advice. She made us feel very special. The property was homely and we settled in quickly, making use of the ample space. Easy access to beaches and mountains meant we were spoilt for choice for daytime, and the comfy sofas, garden furniture and numerous dining tables meant games, dining and map scrutinising were all easy and fun. A great holiday, even with inclement weather!!!
