This cosy two bedroom cottage is set in the rural location of Backbarrow and is perfect for couples and small families. You are within one mile of the Haverthwaite Steam Railway with links to Bowness. There are plenty of cycle routes nearby and walks are in abundance around the lakes. Backbarrow is a little village set in the South Lakes peninsula where the original dolly blue factory was producing the whitener for all washing powders back in the day. If it is an action packed holiday you are looking for or you simply want to chill out then Fell Cottage is the ideal place to be. Whilst we liked the cottage, there is a major issue with parking, as a very unpleasant neighbour claims that all the land to the side of the cottage belongs to her and parks in such a way that it is impoosible to park at the cottage and we had to park on the road for the whole of our stay. In addition there is no garden nor suitable outside space for sitting, there are two chairs beside the annexe - not much good when four are staying. In addition, on arrival we found the kitcen floor to be quite dirty and unswept, and when we opened the freezers, both had green mould on the seals, and the ice cube trays in the kitchen freezer were also mouldy. When we moved the table in the dinning area so that we could seat four, the skirting which had been hidden was filthy, as was the table cover which was very badly stained. So much for "Deep Cleaning"!!!

There is a ongoing problem with the neighbours over parking at the property. Notices are displayed outside kitchen window by the neighbours and they are using all of the spaces available. Also the heating works for a few hours then the error code F4 is displayed on the boiler which needs to be reset
