    Bellman Houses are set in the wonderful countryside of the Winster Valley, in 120 acres of working farmland, and yet just a 5-minute drive from Bowness-on-Windermere. Stunning views over Lake Windermere towards Great Langdale can be seen on the single track approach, with wonderful local walks direct from the doorstep. Bellman Houses have been owned for three successive generations by the same family, and their sympathetic extensive restoration over the years, using traditional methods and materials reflect the local custom and heritage evident today. Fell View Cottage is a traditional stone built, single storey detached barn that has been converted into a spacious and comfortable escape for couples. With its super kingsize four poster bed, exposed stone walls and cosy wood burner it is the perfect romantic retreat. The living room, which has a wood burner is very spacious and the ideal place to relax after a day’s walking or sightseeing. There are three steps down from the living room into a bright kitchen/dining room. The bedroom showcases a beautifully carved four poster bed and there is an en-suite shower room. With underfloor heating and additional radiators throughout this is an incredibly warm and cosy cottage. To the rear of the property is a small enclosed patio from which to enjoy the views over the surrounding countryside. Externally there is a separate utility room which houses a washing machine and tumble dryer, as well as providing bicycle storage. Beach 12 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.
    Fell View Cottage can be booked together with The Main House (30863) and The Cottage (30864) to accommodate up to 13 guests.

    Just back from a week here. It's a lovely little cottage in a nice location. It was spotlessly clean and well equipped. The huge bed was very comfortable. However, the cottage only has 2 opening windows. 1 in the kitchen and 1 in the bathroom, so the bedroom was uncomfortably hot. Similarly, the only option for ventilation in the lounge was to open one of the external doors. Other things to bear in mind... the driveway to the cottage is very long and very rough, and getting out onto the road is scary as visibility is terrible in both directions. It's a great base for visiting the lakes, and we had a lovely time here.

    It was a brilliant place to stay for our holiday. The only thing that was a pain was that there was no windows in the cottage that we could open as it felt like an oven inside unless we opened the doors which let in many flies and wasps.

    Lovely cottage but shouldn’t be advertised as having WiFi as the signal isn’t good enough to load a basic web page. Was great seeing the sheep going past the door! Kitchen is not very well equipped - didn’t have a single baking tray, we had to buy our own.

    It's a lovely cottage with many good features: good location, underfloor heating, large and comfy bed, good shower, nice and spacious kitchen and eating area. However let down I feel by lack of care to detail: the two doors are very draughty, so reduces the benefit of the heating somewhat!, the bathroom window doesn't shut properly at all as the handle is broken, the Wi-Fi is poorly set up, towels from the other cottage's last let left in the shared washing machine for three days etc. As for the cleaning although all the important bits are done, there were a fair number of cobwebs in corners and noticeably along the bottoms of the doors/windows and the blinds were very dusty. Also, it is not clear from the photos that the courtyard setting means that the two main windows in the cottage actually face across the courtyard to teh other cottages and as they are picture windows it does feel a bit goldfish bowl like (and one is the bedroom window facing where the other cottage parked their cars). And finally it is also not mentioned in the description at all that there is mobile home /caravan site all around although cannot be seen from main windows and the rather rough track to the cottages (not suitable for a low slung car). Not sure how much effect that would have in the summer. If that is not an issue for you then it is a good place to stay with lovely walks from the doors and easy access to Ambleside and Windermere.

    Nice enough cottage not helped by a problem with the water the whole time we were there. Boiling water for everything and making sure we had enough bottled water was not what we expected on holiday. Not happy

    The actual cottage is lovely, modern but also homely and very comfortable but it is in a courtyard setting which means your holiday depends on your neighbours which in our case meant a not very peaceful few days over Xmas. There is also a public footpath which goes through the courtyard which again means lots of coming and going. Unfortunately the two sets of patio doors look out onto the courtyard so we had to keep the blinds down all the time. The track up to the cottage is rough and rutted and the surrounds of the cottage need a good weed. When we arrived the ash pan in the woodburner hadn't been emptied and there were no logs but we did have an enjoyable stay overall. Finally just one small thing - the sign for the farm on the road is so high up in a tree that it is impossible to see especially as it is covered in mould, a clearer sign on the driveway would help.
