Our first stay at Fellside cottage and it won't be our last! A fantastic cottage, clean tidy and modern perfect for my wife, myself and our dog. Walks direct from the doorstep with views of the Old Man of Conniston Mountain straight in front of you, couldn't ask for better. Entry track isn't a problem to the cottage just take it steady. Can't wait to return!

Fellside cottage is in a fantastic location steeped in history so was great to spend a week exploring the area (trip up to reservoir on a evening is recommended via path behind cottage). The cottage itself is clean and well maintained with everything you could want. I nearly marked down as we would of liked to stretch a bit more on the sofa after a hard days walk but then you couldn't of fit a bigger one in anyway ;-) If you don't want to walk down to town every night, the log burner provides a cosy welcome feel and soon gets the room toasty. Allowing you to watch darkness fall or catch a movie from provided DVD's or TV (has a USB port if you bring your own movies). Recommend taking a torch for late walk back from town and using road path if your muscles are still aching from day time fell walking although other path is okay it does have some rocky / steep bits.

Lovely cosy cottage in a great location if you want to be off the beaten track which suited us fine. Lots of lovely walks from the door only used the car twice. Had an amazing week. Stunning scenery and views from the cottage. Like someone has already written the only downside was having to leave. The track up was ok saw a variety of cars use it probably not so suitable for low profile ones though. Walk up from Coniston to the cottage uphill. Inside the cottage is very well done out and the photos don’t do it justice. We will definitely go back.

Lovely cottage, fitted to a very high standard and presented very clean. If you love the fells, the location is excellent, as you have some really spectacular walks straight from your door. I came for a week of fell running, and it was perfect for that. You are about 1 mile from Coniston along a rough track (as it says in the description) so if you don't have a car, that would be something to bear in mind.

Probably one of the nicest presented cottages we have stayed in.

Absolutely spectacular cottage high above Coniston. Very well kitted out, romantic log fire. Just don’t drive to it in the dark first arrival as it is quite disorientating to drive in the pitch dark. Otherwise perfect

Lovely cottage in a fantastic location. We wanted somewhere remote and close to the mountains. Couldn’t have chosen a better spot. We will be back.

wouldn't hesitate to recommend and if I go back to this area would look for availability at this cottage before I even bother looking elsewhere. Yes it is a reasonable walk to the village and in the heavy rain that we had we didn't therefore walk on an evening, we went in the car. But we wanted to be somewhere with views and out of the way and that is exactly what it was. Approx one mile or so from the village. it is an unmade track but we had no trouble in a four wheel drive and I think most cars would be fine unless they have a particularly low base. Yes it is isolated with only approx. four cottages in a row, but this is what made it so perfect. Exceptionally quiet (no noise other than some sheep baaing which was lovely) and views on every side. Walks from the doorstep but also not too far from Windermere, Ambleside etc. The cottage was immaculate and very well equipped, we wanted for nothing. The bed was one of the comfiest I have slept in, the shower room was spotless and lovely big shower, the kitchen had all you needed, comfortable sofa for two in front of the wood burning stove, and seating for two to eat. Tv, internet router, info about the area and the cottage etc. Ideal for a couple. the only problem was that we were only there for three nights and could have happily stayed a lot longer! Cannot recommend highly enough

Just returned back from a fantastic 5 days in the cottage; it was very clean, modern & well equipped. Small but perfectly formed and ideal for myself, my partner & 1 dog (labrador). The setting and views were absolutely breathtaking - rural but only 1 mile from the village of Coniston. Direct access to the Old Man mountain which we climbed. As other people have mentioned, the drive up to the cottage is extremely treacherous (especially for my boyfriend who drives a low profile BMW) so good to be aware of this. Also a bit of a nervous walk to/from the pubs in Coniston in the evening (with the steep hill, cattle grid, drops to waterfall without any street lights etc) but that didn't spoil our trip at all & probably added to the experience! We are in our early 30s so perhaps less 'fun' for older or more nervous visitors. All in all, we had a fantastic stay and hope to come back in future! I am only mentioning the above as I feel it's good for other guests to be aware :)
