Hoseasons "Firbank Cottage is a large family home set in the heart of a traditional Cumbrian village a great location for an excellent rural retreat.\n\nNewly listed for 2018 this spacious holiday home offers contemporary tastefully decorated bedrooms on the first floor comprising of a spacious double a comfortable twin and a cosy single room. The top floor is home to a beautiful master bedroom which features a free standing bath for a relaxing soak after a day of adventure in the Lake District Fells. The ground floor is all about the social aspect and this will prove a winner with large families multiple couples and friend groups. A large open-plan kitchendining room is at the heart of the home. Through one door it leads to a cosy living room through the other a huge conservatory overlooking the gardens at the rear. This really is a house that gives you flexibility whether you want a quiet night in front of the TV or maybe you want to open a few bottles of wine and get competitive over a board game in the conservatory which has masses of natural light. At the rear there is a patio and large lawned garden great if you want to get the badminton out and enjoy the afternoon sun.\nThe traditional village of Dearham has a lot to offer the local post office and shop is just 350 yards away as is the local chippy If you fancy some pub grub or a rewarding drink after a long day the village pub is just 500 yards away 6 minute walk. Hop in the car and you will reach the town of Maryport in just 2.5 miles home to The Lake District Coast Aquarium as well as Clip ‘n Climb a popular climbing adventure attraction. Kids will love Cave at the Wave which features an indoor caving activity or if you want to boost your adrenaline you can whizz around the local go-karting track. If culture is your thing you can visit Senhouse Roman Museum or take a trip 4 miles away to Cockermouth. This lovely Cumbrian town is the birthplace of William Wordsworth and offers a delightful town centre with a good mix of bars restaurants shops and tourist attractions and is also home to the famous Jennings’s Brewery.\nOf course your trip to Cumbria wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the recently crowned UNESCO World Heritage site The Lake District National Park. Firbank Cottage is in an ideal location for touring the North Western Lake District, being roughly 40 minutes from the start of many fell walks in the Buttermere area and having easy access to Skiddaw and Blencathra. We headed to the beach at Maryport, about 10 minutes away on rest days which our dog loved. The garden is fantastic for dogs being large and totally secure and would be great for children too. A bonus is the conservatory, great for relaxing in and with a tiled floor so no worries about wet paws or feet if raining. The inside of the cottage is even better than the photographs, and the extra downstairs toilet most useful. The village itself is very quiet which suited us and Cockermouth is less than 10 minutes away for shopping. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend unreservedly.

This was a lovely house very spacious & comfortable & absolutely everything we could possibly need was provided. The garden was huge & great fun for the children & dogs, the only reason I've scored a 9 is because the grass was very long - like a field so everyone got very wet feet when it rained. The conservatory at the back of the house was a great space & nice to be in even if it was raining. I don't think it says in the info but there are 2 toilets, one down stairs. Nothing much to do in the immediate area but only 4mls to Maryport where there is Click & Climb & Cave & Wave which the kids loved & it's also an interesting sea port. Would definitely stay there again if wanted to be in that area.
