Had a great weeks stay in the Float Bay View cottage, really enjoyed it as a base to explore the local area.
Plenty of room, sleeps 7, comfortably, all the rooms are large and spacious, light and airy. Its a modern cottage, with large living room and large dining room with sunroom area. 3 bedrooms.
The views over the North Channel on a clear day were nice, you could watch the cruise ships and freight ships heading to their respective destinations.
There aren't any shops near the cottage, everything is a drive to get provisions etc, at least 2/3 mile away through narrow lanes to get to the nearest village of Sandhead, which may I add, has one of the best beaches in the area, on Luce Bay.
We visited Port Logan, Portpatrick, Mull of Galloway lighthouse and Gaillie Craig café, Corsewall Lighthouse, Stranraer etc, which are all accessible with 45 mins. Culzean Castle and Ayr take appx 1hr 30 - 2hr to get to, depends what you want to see and what you want from the stay at the cottage.
We wanted somewhere quiet, but accessible to beaches and sights, with the 2 dogs, just to get away from it all and chill out, recharge our batteries, which we achieved, we had the best nights sleep in a long time, theres no noise or light pollution at the cottage, perfect peace.
We would recommend a stay here, we're hoping to return for a break in the spring or early summer.
