The Roost is an amazing place and I highly recommend. In particular: large comfortable bed, large well equipped kitchen, cosy log burning stove, plenty of seating, very dog friendly, modern and clean, fantastic local pubs, amazing woodland walks, parking, great location, Elaine is lovely, very spacious place, beautifully renovated barn. We have booked again for the Summer.

The Roost is a lovely place to stay and much bigger than the photos make out. We went for 3 nights over Christmas and it was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The host was lovely and left us eggs from their hens, coffee, milk and sugar, brownies which were delicious, cut flowers and a bottle of prosecco. She even put up a real christmas tree for us. It has everything you would need and a full size oven which we cooked Christmas dinner in. The fridge has a small freezer section. The beds are so comfortable and everything is of great quality. The log burner was lovely and made it all very cosy. There is a small outside area with a table and chairs and a bbq. It is about 20 min walk to the village although there isn't a path on the country road so could be dangerous at night but there is a torch in a kitchen drawer. There are lots of other walks around though which the host put in the welcome pack which also has details of places to eat and taxis etc. We took our small dog but be aware that dogs are not allowed upstairs. There is a stair gate in the hallway and a downstairs toilet so you have somewhere to wipe muddy paws. There is also a smart tv with Netflix, some board games and books to read. We had an amazing stay and would definitely recommend The Roost or The Coop next door.

A very pleasant stay in a very well-restored barn. It is clean, bright, comfortable and well-equipped. There are small touches - fresh flowers, eggs from the farm and even some brownies that made all the difference. There is not much of a view, but you can't have everything. A problem with the wifi was sorted out very quickly. it is clear that the owner cares a good deal about her guest's well-being. There are some lovely local walks, and more ambitious offerings in the South Downs are not far away.

The Roost is the most amazing holiday cottage, everything you could wish for and more It is extremely comfortable and beautifully decorated in a peaceful location but very accessible and a great base from which to visit West Sussex. Elaine is a very thoughtful host and the welcome goodies were very appreciated.

Clean and comfortable cottage which welcomes dogs. However, the courtyard garden is very small and my dog needed to be taken out for a walk first thing and last thing as the space did not meet her requirements! So if you're looking for a cottage where you can just pop your dog outside to do its business you would do better to book the one next door, although there is still no lawn.

From a dog owner's perspective. The property is clean and well finished, a stairgate allows wet and muddy visitors to keep (some), of the outside within the hallway. A second toilet downstairs is included within the property. The garden fence is covered with chicken wire to stop curtail inquisitive pets from straying. The owner, Elaine, is very pleasant, helpful and provided wine , eggs, milk and cut flowers. The lane outside the property is quiet and useful in early morning exercise/toileting. There are walks from the door and a National Trust Woodland at the end of the lane. Petworth is approximately 2.5 miles away, passing the Star Inn and Scammel's garage enroute, nice dog friendly pub with food and the locals are welcoming. Access to the Petworth Estate deer park is approx. a mile past the main entrance and car park to the NT property. This is where the dog walkers park and have access to acres of grass and woodland just keep an eye out for the deer. There is a local co-op in Petworth and the car parking in the town is free for the first hour. A very nice part of the UK.

What a fantastic place to stay! Plenty of space for two, well furnished, really comfy bed, spotlessly clean. The host left eggs, milk and wine to welcome us, which was a nice touch. Our only suggested improvement would be a larger sofa for lounging on - but this really is a *very* minor point and didn’t spoil our enjoyment at all. We had a brilliant break at The Roost and will definitely be back!
