The cottage is lovely and secluded with amazing views. So blissfully quiet in the mornings. My partner thought the tea set was a nice touch, but couldn’t find a tray. It was nice to see that previous reviews were noted and acted upon. The garden is now separated into two. A few reasons we would be reluctant to stay again are: The water was brown (“due to low water level”) so we couldn’t (didn’t want to) drink it or bathe in it. However, the care taker did bring some bottled water when we reported it. Thank you for that. Upon arrival, the cottage had a strong damp smell, but this didn’t last after we aired the cottage out. The dogs are not allowed up stairs. Sheep roam freely outside the cottage fence line. (Not a problem to most but personally I felt uncomfortable to take my dog jogging in the morning.) The mattress was comfortable but the wooden bed was squeaky. Lastly, one of the pillows smelt like human, was creased, and had makeup on it. Possibly forgotten to be changed...? Who knows. Overall, the cottage has a lot of potential. The living room and kitchen being open plan is a real bonus. P.s. if you plan to make pancakes...you’ll need to bring your own whisk! :)

A very peaceful, if remote location. Super walk down into Boot, especially down past Stanley Force.

We had a generally comfortable stay though there was no hot water when we arrived and it took a couple of days to bring the living areas up to a comfortable temperature. The area was picturesque with some lovely views with some great local walks.

We wanted a quiet break in a remote setting and that is exactly what we got. The cottage was in the most beautiful surroundings and with far reaching, stunning views. The cottage was small but adequate for the needs of myself, my partner and our dog. The owners had supplied just about everything one could need for a mini break, and then some! The cottage was very clean, quiet, cosy and comfortable. We do intend to book the place again in the future. Be warned though, the cottage is pretty remote and may not be suitable for people who have difficulty walking too far, plus the farm track from the main road to the cottage is rugged and may not be suitable for some of the low, sportier cars to negotiate. In conclusion, if you want to get away from it all for a quiet break in a cosy cottage surrounded by stunning scenery then it's hard to beat. Highly recommended!

We know the area well and looked forward to walking and exploring around the cottage. Unfortunately the weather put paid to our plans. It is a perfect location for good weather, but because of the dense fog we had to travel over the fell by car to see any daylight! The cottage itself was very well equipped and comfortable with an efficient log burner. I imagine the views from the cottage to be stunning in clear weather.

For us at 65 and fit, it was to remote, stairs to steep and narrow and bathroom was down stairs so we had to negotiate the stairs at night not ideal. It said Dog friendly but rules said you couldn't let the dog in the enclosed garden and the three acres it could use, you had to keep it on the lead as sheep wandered in and it wasn't fully enclosed. We had a 4x4 so the track to the cottage was ok but having stayed on rural cottages before with a log fire who provided logs we were surprised we had to buy logs as the only other heating was electric fan heaters or panels that didn't do a lot.

Really enjoyed the cottage as we are frequent visitors to the area. We were disappointed by the shared garden as we were unable to let our dog out in the garden
