On arrival we were initially disappointed to find that the entrance to the cottage was on the side of a fairly busy road. However we soon discovered that the extensive grounds at the rear were perfectly safe and secure for our 2 dogs so need not have worried. Much care had been lavished on the cottage to ensure visitors every need was catered for. Whilst Skirling is a delightful sleepy hamlet, Biggar, in contrast, a 10 minute drive away, is a lively market town. It's high street has a plentiful variety of individual shops and eating places. We spent a wonderful relaxing week in this delightful cottage and we were all -dogs included- very sorry to leave. They loved the freedom of the grounds, the daily visits from the owners dogs and their woodland walks. We are already planning a return visit.

Beautiful place. Fabulous cottage. Loveliest people. Total home from home and the cottage really has everything. Our labs first holiday with us and she adored the owners labs and looked for them every day. Learned so much about the history of the place and will definitely be back to try more of the local walks. Was apprehensive about taking the dog but she was made so welcome. Can’t say enough positive things about this wee place and there was no negatives. The owners are perfect hosts and Ian and I are planning our return already.

Fabulous hosts and a fabulous wee cottage. Huge garden and owners field was great for two dogs. Spotlessly clean. Wood burner stove was a real bonus. The Crown in nearby Biggar is fab for food.

A lovely little cottage which suited us very well. Our dog particularly enjoyed use of the huge enclosed garden & meeting the resident pets! Friendly hosts & ideal accommodation with everything you need for a home away from home. Highly recommended!

We loved it at the Gardner’s cottage and will definetly return as the location and comfort was perfect. The bed was so comfortable and my friend who slept in the conservatory felt the same. It was the perfect place for my husband to recoperate following a heart attack as the garden and surrounding area as he walked about with our little dog. We only got to meet two of the dogs from “skirling house” who used to call in and say hi every morning.

A fantastic location. A real gem of a place and especially great for the dogs. Our 2 cocker spaniels absolutely loved the walks from the house. We were spoilt rotten with the huge garden then through the gate into the even bigger field followed by a walk through the woods. The weather for us was just how we liked it, nice and cold, then back into the house for a warm welcome from the Rayburn. Isobel and Bob were very helpful especially when I accidentally turned the Rayburn off and they came out to sort it. We loved the visit from the labradors each day and they helped bring one of my shy dogs (Jasper) out of his shell. Overall we would have given it a ten out of ten but the sofa and chairs in the lounge could have been a tad comfier. We will definitely be back hopefully in the winter. Thanks and hope to see you again, Simon and Donna and 2 very happy dogs.

Amazing cottage very cosy everything you need. Plus a visit from the owners Labs everyday so friendly my dog enjoyed playing with them every day in the beautiful garden. Lots of places to visit not far from peebles and biggar, if you prefer the city it's an ideal location for visiting Edinburgh or Glasgow. Will certainly book again.
