Gentian is a welcoming, semi-detached bungalow with a small front and gated back garden in the attractive, conservation town of Aberfeldy in the heart of highland Perthshire. Ideal for a couple or friends and family to spend time together and discover this most scenic part of Scotland. All on one level, guests will find this holiday home has been thoughtfully furnished throughout, with a contemporary open plan kitchen/dining room which is fitted with top quality equipment, including a large fridge/freezer so there is plenty of space for storage. Both bedrooms have super kingsize beds one of which can be divided into twin beds for flexibility, and the living room is bright with a Smart TV. There is a small porch with seating that is handy for storing outdoor clothing.
The property is just a few minutes walk into the centre of Aberfeldy, with a great selection of places to eat and drink, independent shops, bakery, an award-winning butchers and galleries, as well as a book shop which was awarded one of the best book shops in the world. The community-run cinema has a regular program of current films and a vibrant live music scene. Throughout the year there are numerous events taking place including a monthly farmer’s market, Highland Games, the Aberfeldy Festival and Etap Caledonian yearly cycle race.
There is extensive walking and cycling, with many established public footpaths and cycle paths, golfing, and a host of sporting activities within easy reach. The River Tay runs through the town with walks along the river bank and fishing (permits available locally). If you are feeling adventurous, white water rafting and kayaking are also available. The Birks of Aberfeldy provide a scenic walk through a gorge and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, with many varieties of flora and fauna to admire. Kenmore and Loch Tay are only an 8-minute drive with a shingle beach and breathtaking views of the loch and surrounding mountains. There are water sports, loch cruises, a local shop and Post Office, a deli, the oldest inn in Scotland and Croft na Caber Centre, a reconstruction of an Iron Age stilt dwelling built over the water. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.
