First impression was what a lovely location until I realised that people walk right past every 15mins, more privacy in the garden would be better. Having stayed in many cottages this is my 4th this year, this one is over priced especially as they class it as 6 berth when it should be 4! A better outside light as that one isn’t adequate hardly lights up. Finally the cleaners waiting before checkout time is very poor never encountered this ever! They shouldn’t turn up BEFORE, putting pressure on people to leave. Also the grass needed cutting was very long.

was very disappointed with the cottage for the money we paid. Not enough room to put your hanging clothes, no room to put food in the kitchen, only the fridge/freezer! I can't possibly think of 6 people staying there as there wasn't enough room for the 2 of us! The garden needed work doing to it. High hedges all round would have been nice, so the people walking past to go to the village every 5 mins wouldn't encroach on your privacy! Also if your over 65 this isn't the area for you. Its all up and down steep roads to walk anywhere!

Post code doesn’t get you there, so refer to directions once SatNav announces you have arrived. Access road very tight and unmade but that’s what you get with no neighbours. Walk to town centre across fields 10 mins and most dog friendly. Hope & Anchor best all round but others looked interesting but suspect no dogs. Coop at garage is big and well stocked. Sainsbury’s in Matlock and Tesco Extra in Amberhurst (?) about 30 mins away. Matlock Bath - avoid at all cost. Someone has created coastal tat in the Peak District! Awful! It wasn’t like that 40 years ago!! Head north into the Nation Trust park area. Stunning. Blue John caves a must! Taking the dog down with us was an experience! Wirksworth described as jewel in Peak District! In truth, it’s hardly in the Peak District and no jewel but pub staff friendly and locals didn’t seem to mind too much. Otherwise just came and went. Carsington(?) Water, allow 4 hours to circumnavigate on foot. Parking a rip-off. Otherwise a nice weekend break. Oh and watch out for the cleaners turning up 15mins ahead of turf-out time, causing us to forget to leave the keys, not having to lock up! Embarrassing and expensive! Anyway, well appointed holiday let. Double beds good size for single occupancy. Two adults a challenge as not full doubles and one side against the wall! WCs: adventurous us of cupboard under stairs! Hope helpful.

A well equipped house with high quality attention to detail - fabulous bathroom and shower and all you could want in a kitchen with easy to use appliances. Slightly cramped rooms with small double beds that all had one side against a wall. Cosy barn but underfloor heating made it hot in sunny weather as there were no instructions to turn the heating off. Location is fabulous for dog walkers and strolls into town were easy for all the amenities.

This is a very nice converted barn. This was our second visit. Clean, warm and comfortable with very good facilities. My wife and I and our dog Rosa enjoyed the stay. There were sheep and lambs surrounding the property. We have a Viszla who is well behaved but even she was very interested in these peaceful creatures. The fence around the barn is robust but low. So we had to keep Rosa on the lead while out in enclosed area. We intend to return in the near future. Thank you.

Wow what a lovely place to stay . The cottages is lovely. Would highly recommended it . Very comfortable. Nice walks from the door. A negative it could do with some dawn to dusk light or lights out side as it's pitch dark . Will definitely be going back . ???

The cottage was very cosy with a great log burner. Good location with plenty of space for the dogs to run about. Bedrooms were a bit cramped and beds were against the wall making it difficult to sleep. Could do with an outside light as it was pitch dark. Overall we were very happy with our choice.

Clean, warm and cosy. Great location. Make sure you arrive with shopping, no WiFi to find shops, little information in welcome pack. Got a curry delivered on first night as unclear where shops were. 3G had trouble locating us. 3G said shops and pubs 3mins away, but were not. Loved local walk up to Black Rock. Walk through woods up there sheep free with dog. Easy to drive to some lovely spots to do further walking. Cleaners waiting in car at throwing out time so be punctual leaving. Fair enough! Recommended. Hope to return in near future.
