Overall was very happy with the cottage. A few little niggles eg only one tea towel, no washing up liquid and limited cleaning materials. However, the village store was very close by. Also, no 'welcome' milk in the fridge which was unusual. Unfortunately, our stay was during the June Monsoon so our outings were limited. The porch to the back door is in need of attention - in fact, it is of no use whatsoever in the rain. The fridge is very small. BUT would be happy to stay again - pray for better weather and be more prepared with milk, cleaning products etc

Very nice old cottage. Clean and cosy. Had roaring fires 2 nights in the open fireplace. Use of the hotel if you wanted. Fabulous grounds to walk in with the dogs. Would highly recommend it for a short break

We had a wonderful stay at Ghyll Cottage and would definitely recommend it and return! It is a great old cottage but with the modern day comforts. It even had a fire place but it was 18*C when we were there so we did not use it. The garden is secluded and has a nice terras to sit in the sun. Only negative thing worth mentioning is that there are quite a few planes coming over to and from Gatwick Airport. It did not bother us but we did notice.

The cottage was beautiful and in a fantastic location. It was very comfortable and had a lovely garden. Within walking distance are excellent pubs and a lovely village shop. We moved the sofa as someone lost something and were rather shocked at the dirt underneath it. We were also a bit surprised at the fact that there was no salt and pepper and no dishwasher tablets, literally the only amenities were tea and coffee and basic household items.

We absolutely loved this cottage. It was spacious but cosy with lots of original features. Having the staff available at the hotel next door meant you could ask things without feeling like you were disturbing the owner. It also meant they could send their maintenance man round to sort a couple of problems we had very quickly so the holiday wasn't spoiled. There was a large totally secure garden which was great for our dog and there was great walking from the cottage just by walking 2 mins into the village and out into some woods. Also you could walk the dog round in the grounds of the hotel on a lead if you needed somewhere with paths if the weather was awful. The village had a good shop and also 2 pubs - 1 of which is next door and does great food! We also ate in the hotel but found it to be a bit expensive and without atmosphere by comparison to the pub. We will definitely be back there.

Great cottage, well equipped in the kitchen, comfy beds and friendly staff at the hotel on hand to help. Lovely local pubs and walks.
