I thought the cottage looked nice from the photos, but the reality totally surpassed my expectations. The cottage was so clean and well laid out. So beautifully renovated and so tastefully decorated.
The beds were very comfortable to sleep in, and the fire was lovely to come back to after a busy day.
The welcome pack was very appreciated, especially the fresh fruit and flowers.
I would love to return to Glen Cottage in the future.
Absolutely fantastic.Cottage was just what we wanted, clean and tidy and milk, tea, butter and delicious home baked cakes were all available when we arrived.Would strongly recommend this lovely ,quaint cottage.

Lovely cottage. Good location. Thank you for the opportunity to discover a different area of Cumbria
We were pleasantly surprised to find that the cottage lived up to its description and photographs, as unfortunately, often this is not the case. The cottage has been lovingly restored, and presented to a high standard, with some nice built-in quirkiness. The owners should be commended for their efforts in achieving this, and thanks also for supplying a small starter pack, and fresh flowers. Much appreciated.
Although the village amenities are limited, we expected this to be the case, and it did not really matter as we were there for the coastal walks (with our dog), and proximity to the Lakes, with the opportunity to return 'home' again, and unwind away from the crowds there.
The weather was terrific during our stay, so we spent much of our time outdoors, but I'm sure the cottage would prove to be a cosy sanctuary if the weather was otherwise.
Definitely one of the best cottages we have stayed, and we hope to return next year.
What a fabulous cottage!!! Super clean and very comfortable, the added extras made it a real home from home. The beach was amazing, a perfect location for exploring the local area. Will definately be returning ? THANK YOU for a wonderful stay.

Not very nice parking not enough space heating to cold for wife everyting else very good enjoyed the holiday thanks
Lovely cottage, really well thought out. All the little touches meant we felt at home straight away and could get on with our holiday! Our beagle loved the beach and the underfloor heating. A great base for exploring the Solway Coast and the Lakes. Travelling with our 3 month old baby- it was lovely to have a cosy fire and some comfy chairs to enjoying a glass of wine at the end of the day. Owners provided travel cot which was a great help! Would definitely recommend.
Lovely comfy beautifully renovated cottage well equipped with everything we needed. Welcome touches like fresh flowers and Easter decoration as well as handmade cake, bread milk etc. Allonby beach unspoilt and can walk for miles in either direction. Drive to Lake District and major towns but pub, coffee shop and good chip shop in Allonby. We enjoyed a peaceful break with our dog and 12 yr old who both loved it (helped by great weather). Would recommend.
Fantastic family week at Glen cottage, we all loved walking about in bare feet with under floor heated flagstones. Really comfy arty chairs - fighting to sit in them. We both enjoyed all the Percy Kelly books to get a feel for the cottages history and colourful, interesting artist.
Only downside is could do with better lighting in upstairs bathroom.
Weather was really good, amazingly no rain in whole April week on Cumbrian coast, only down side meant not reason to test the tempting wood burning stove.
stony Beach only across the road, sandy area at low tide.
Decent chippy across the road - codfather (huge portions chips, 1 between 3 would have been plenty and bit greasy, fish, black pudding and sausages excellent).
Nearby quality playpark with separate grass football/basketball area. Had a couple of good value meals at the baywatch hotel in jacks surf bar - family friendly. 1/2 portions of adult dishes possible for children, so good flexibility and son enjoyed his curry.
explored Cockermouth (15mins), Keswick(35mins) in day trips.
10yr old son and I climbed Lingmell and Scafell Pike one day, only 1hr drive away.
Maryport had good fun at caving and clip n climb in the wave centre, also had really good meal at nearby captains tavern. One evening had go at karting - all enjoyed ourselves.
Silloth worth visiting ice cream shop and amusements - pity too late for toy soldier museum - looked interesting.
Will return to explore this Cumbrian corner further, perfect access to Northern Lake district.
Beautiful cottage on the coast. Lovely welcome from Steve, everything you could want from a holiday cottage and more.
Brilliant hosts! The house was spotless and the small but significant touches made our stay feel like home. Very comfortable beds and the welcome pack was a very sweet gesture from Steve and Lyndsey. And although furry friends are allowed you could not tell there had been a doggie in previously. Lyndsey’s cleaning must be fastidious!! The locals are very friendly too!
We spent Christmas 2018 in Glen cottage. It was one of the nicest Christmases we have ever had. The owners are really friendly and Steve met us on our first day and showed us around/explained everything, messaged us a few days later and again at the end of the stay.
What a beautifully finished, have thought of everything, little gem of a place. it is decorated and furnished beautifully. We especially loved the underfloor heating (stone) and wood burning stove (which we hardly used as it was so toasty warm).
We slept like logs as the beds were so comfy and we really appreciated the little touches such as candles around the house and in the bathroom, the fruit, bread, milk and sparkling bucks fizz that were waiting for us on arrival. There is a lovely long bath in the bathroom (which we soaked in often) and a down stairs shower, which is a little small but manageable.
The only down side of the property, for us, was that there isn't an outside area / garden, as we had our dogs. However, you can sit outside the front of the house and the neighbours are all really friendly; and no-one batted an eyelid when we wondered on the beach and green in our jimjam bottoms for the morning and evening wee run.
The village is lovely, very quaint and quirky, the cottage is literally across the read from the sand and pebble beach; and the local chip shop (which you don't want to bypass as the Fish and Chips are really good). We had great weather and some very beautiful sunsets while we were there. There are 2 pubs and a little general store (which has very good ice-cream). Its not far from lots of amenities in Maryport, Cockermouth and Workington, and about 30-40 minutes from the heart of the Lake District.
All in all I cannot recommend this cottage more - it was a delight to stay there and we will be back :o)
Couldn't of stayed in a more stunning cottage the history of it and somewhere just to get away to relax at we've already booked again for Same time next year.
Absolutely stunning cottage, so privaledged to have stayed there especially for a special occasion. Lovely welcome pack with homemade cake, bread, milk etc... Really didn't need to bring anything with us, just amazing.
We were greeted by the owners and provided with a welcome pack of essential provisions. The cottage has been delightfully and tastefully renovated to retain its character. It provided a cosy refuge, when needed, from the weather. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and fully equipped with everything we needed for our stay. It was a good base for walking in and around and exploring Allonby, Maryport, Silloth, Cockermouth, Keswick and the North Lakes. Thank you for sharing your little gem.
