It is the perfect base for peace and tranquillity within this spectacular area and is a true ’get-away-from-it-all’ experience. The historic oakwoods and lead mines of Aruindle are within walking distance of Gorten and the Ardnamurchan Peninsula has so much to offer holidaymakers including unspoilt beaches dramatic scenery and so much history. Ardnamurchan Distillery Nadurra and a nature centre are only a short drive away. The Ardnamurchan Lighthouse which is the most westerly point in Britain and Sanna Bay with its pristine beach are both a short drive away. Another favourite is the steam train journey from Fort William to Mallaig which was used in the Harry Potter movies. Also available in the area are activities such as mountain biking hiking fishing hunting shooting and dolphin and whale watching. A neat wee cottage, with a sense of privacy despite the closeness of other houses, is on a southerly facing slope with pleasing views up the valley to a series of conical hills. It is spacious inside and adequately furnished, a practical habitation for a holiday with touring and walking in mind. The approach road is steep with bends and reversing in or out of the parking space could become a challenge. The garden, is secure and ,allows space for children and dogs to play and includes a patio area with an unhidered view across the glen. Petrol and a good selection of food supplies are available in Strontian but one needs to be awarecof opening times. Overall a comfortable and rewarding place to stay

The cottage was clean, warm and comfortable. That said, we found the standard and level of finish inside disappointing. Outside, the garden, patio and equipment seemed somewhat neglected. However the views were magnificent and the weather was very warm and sunny all week so all told it was a good holiday. One thing which would have helped was a visitors book highlighting the local attractions, so it was fortunate we had made plans before we arrived.

Warm cozy cottage, spotlessly clean and well equipped, private but only a short walk to shop etc, surrounded by walks and spectacular scenery. We were lucky with the weather even into November but it had a dehumidifier for wet weather. the owners seemed very nice and we found it ideal for us and our 2 dachshunds.
