Granny’s Cottage is set in a wonderfully rural location, yet only three miles from the village of Lairg. The property has been lovingly furnished to a good standard throughout, and features a stunning shower room, a cosy living room with a wood burner, and very comfortable furniture.
There is a modern open plan kitchen/dining room with views over the countryside, and a bedroom on the ground floor with day bed. On the first floor there are three bedrooms, a kingsize bed, double bed and a single bed, allowing guests to have ample space and even a bedroom each. Outside is a paved area which is an ideal spot to sit with a glass of wine and watch the sunsets.
The nearby village of Lairg has a good selection of small shops, restaurants and bars, all within a short walk of the property. Lairg is particularly well placed for exploring the very best of the Scottish Highlands, being on an intersection of routes that lead to Durness and the far north, across to the west coast to Lochinver, or south to Inverness and the Black Isle. The renowned North Coast 500 route takes in some of the most spectacular scenery to be found anywhere in the British Isles. The area is also known for its many sporting activities with mountain biking, cycling, hill-walking, mountain climbing, kayaking and canoeing all being local pastimes. Fishing for trout and salmon is available nearby with a permit in season. There are numerous golf courses nearby, including Royal Dornoch and Golspie. There are superb walks along the shores of Loch Shin and for bird watchers there is a hide on the banks. Nearby places of interest include the Falls of Shin, one of the few places to watch salmon leaping, Dunrobin Castle, seat of the Dukes of Sutherland, and the charming historic village of Dornoch, with its sandy beach and 13th-century cathedral. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
