Regency Cheltenham 6 miles has boutique shopping the celebrated Gold Cup Cheltenham Racecourse and world-famous jazz and literary festivals. Cirencester the ’Capital of the Cotswolds’ is 12 miles and is a charming market town. It is conveniently located to many other Cotswold towns and villages such as Stow-on-the-Wold Bourton-on-the-Water Winchcombe Painswick Stroud and Tetbury. Trout fishing is available within the village and with prior arrangement the possibility to bring your own horse.     We had a lovely weekend. The house is nice cosy, needs a little TLC in parts but comfortable close to Cheltenham and Painswick and set in lovely grounds. We did feel that it lacked some basics - hand soap, cling film, that sort of thing but it was good value for money.

    The location of this farmhouse is delightful and with five bedrooms accommodates ten people properly. There were however only three bathrooms, two of which were en-suite. The dining area is spacious and the kitchen adequately equipped. We took the house for a three night weekend for a special family birthday celebration - the cost was just short of £1,400. For this rental we were expecting tip-top accommodation and did not expect to have to rush out upon arrival to buy such necessities as soap and dishwashing liquid. Neither did the advertised 'welcome pack' materialise. The house and garden are in dire need of care and maintenance. The kitchen bins had not been emptied. We also live in an ancient cottage and whilst quirkiness is quaint, plumbing problems are not. Water from an upstairs toilet dripped onto the kitchen floor. On investigation we found that the waste water was being collected in a plastic food container placed in an open hole made in the kitchen ceiling. This had overflowed. Unhygienic to say the least. Although the lawn had been recently mowed the garden borders have been badly overtaken by tall weeds, brambles and nettles. Since we were expecting a small child for the day, we needed first to attack nettles around the door into the garden with kitchen scissors. This property is neglected and needs refurbishment; in its present state is not worth the exorbitant rental.

    The cottage is clearly a money making enterprise for the aristocratic owners. They asked us to send a £250 cheque for breakage cover shortly before arrival. It was to be returned within a week of departure. We had to ask the agency for it 2 weeks later. They had cashed it into their account. Their cheque arrived with not even a compliment slip, let alone an apology. I felt they just sat on these deposits in the hope that some clients would forget about them. The property was poor inside. A few badly done flashy upgrades gave them photo cudos in their ads. The sofa in the main lounge had almost no padding left, so you balance on the underlying woodwork. The whole place is scrappy. When we arrived we had to go out and buy every little thing like salt and sugar. there was little practical furniture in bedrooms. This is the worst holiday cottage I have ever been in.

    In truth the pictures and description didn't do the cottage justice. A really idyllic Cotswold Farm cottage in a wonderful location. The access road is a little bumpy but it is a farmers cottage and we as a family had a really memorable stay; highly recommend!

    A beautiful setting and a building full of character and interest. Great for playing hide and seek and having a treasure hunt in. Space to be in a small group and plenty of space for everyone to be together. The house was very welcoming and that included the dogs. We felt we didn't have to worry about where they went downstairs A super place to stay.

    Rambling old house in lovely location. Let down by poor attention to maintenance of property. With a little tlc the property could be so much better.
