We loved our stay in Roof Stones! First of all, it's in an ideal location. Situated just outside Hawes, you get the best of both worlds - surrounded by idyllic views and countryside but only a short walk to all the amenities of this lovely town. The town itself is also perfectly situated for touring the Dales. As for the cottage itself, it had everything that we, as a family, ask for in a holiday rental. It is both cosy and spacious. Everything that matters was spot on: the clean towels were fluffy and fragrant; the beds were very comfortable; the shower was great; the heating worked well, as did the wifi. Having the laundry with washing machine and games room was also a bonus. This is shared with the other cottage but because it's actually attached to Roofstones (separated by a door from the kitchen with a lock) it seemed like ours. For balance, I will mention a couple of negative points: firstly, the door to the central heating boiler, which stands next to the fridge in the kitchen, is held shut with a piece of Blu tack adhesive and kept popping open! We found this very irritating and needs repairing; secondly, as other reviewers have pointed out, this cottage does not have enclosed outdoor space as described. As all dog owners will know, this is particularly inconvenient when the cottage is situated on a farm yard with free range chickens. Maybe the particulars should be updated on this point. However, these two negatives did not spoil our stay and we look forward to returning to Roof Stones in the future!

Lovely cottage with everything we could need. Easy walk to town, despite cold weather had snug cottage, used log burner once, only downside was that although very dog friendly the enclosed garden area was not directly outside the back door. There was a lovely rock garden area there but our dog needed to be on the lead. Lambs and rabbits around. All in all though we thoroughly enjoyed the week ?

whilst the cottage was nice and the location wonderful the cleanliness left a lot to be desired as did the equipment in the kitchen. Hard to have a full English for 6 with no grill pan and a single small frying pan. 6 matching wine glasses would be nice instead of 5 all of different sizes. nice location but not worth the high cost for a care worn badly equiped cottage

This terrace cottage is in a stunning country location, conveniently located a short walk to the village of Hawes. It was let down by the dated decor (fake flowers, tacky wall art, rusty cobwebbed barn tools on kitchen wall, old lino on kitchen floor) and cleanliness (kitchen under sink rotten from leak and bathroom mould). But these two points wouldn’t take much to fix. Once fixed it would be a truly lovely converted barn terrace on a very beautiful farm.

A very comfy and well equipped cottage in a quiet and peaceful location with great walks straight from the door. The wood burning stove was especially welcome after wet walks. Hawes just a few minutes walk away with pubs, cafes, shops etc. Only suggestion: a bigger teapot would be useful if more than 2 people staying in cottage!
