Groveside Cottage is situated in Saltburn, a quaint seaside town located between Cleveland and the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, a great base for walkers as the Cleveland Way passes through Saltburn. Once a vibrant smugglers cove, it‘s now a more traditional seaside resort with a fantastic beach for surfers, dog walkers and families alike.
The last remaining iron pier in Yorkshire stretches out to sea, where you can stroll along and enjoy the stunning views down towards Whitby or north towards Redcar. Sit at the end of the pier to watch the daring surfers or just to enjoy an ice cream.
A charming feature is the Victorian Cliff Lift, with its beautiful stained glass windows. Although the trip is short, it’s the best and most rewarding way of getting from the beach to the town, and has taken many a passenger over the years. A ride on the lift gives you spectacular views along the rugged coastline and out to sea. In the town there are plenty of cafes, bars and bistros, as well as traditional pubs.
Travel down the coast and within a short drive you have the resorts of Staithes, Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay. Further down the coast are the larger resorts of Scarborough and Bridlington. Enjoy sandcastles, donkey rides and fish and chips. Visitors of all ages will find something to enjoy at Saltburn.
Experience the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway which goes from Whitby to Pickering through villages such as Grosmont and Goathland (aka Aidensfield in the TV series ‘Heartbeat’), these villages are also easily reached by car. On a smaller scale, there is Saltburn Miniature Railway which operates during the summer months and takes you through the Valley Gardens to the Italian Gardens, and a delightful tea shop. There is also a rally school locally with professional rally instructors to test your driving ability.
Groveside Cottage is tucked away in a quiet corner just set back from the clifftop road. All done to a very good standard, Groveside Cottage is an upside down house with the bedroom on the ground floor and the spacious kitchen, diner and lounge on the first floor. It is a great escape for couples to relax and enjoy Saltburn’s beautiful area.
With a lovely wood burner, it also makes it an ideal place for winter breaks, after those long bracing walks along the clifftops to come back and snuggle up in front of the fire. There is a private enclosed terrace area, which is perfect for the dog or to sit out and enjoy the sunshine.

Very nice cottage, price good, equipment in cottage really good, you don't need to take anything as the cottage supplies everything. No parking on site, but free parking on main road. Close to beach, either a walk or use cliff ride. Would use again. Disappointing that if four people, and the people upstairs need the toilet in the night, they have to access main bedroom downstairs. Overall very pleased with cottage, and would not hesitate to use again.Dog friendly.

Very modern cottage, decor futuristic whist retaining a comfy, cosy atmosphere. On arrival the cottage was spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable. Well equipped. If I had to make one improvement it would be cupboard space for provisions. Have already recommended it to family and friends.

Ideal location for beach and all the amenities. Kitchen equipment rather basic. A cafetière would have been welcome. The outside space was disappointing but the proximity of the seafront overcame the shortcoming.

Ticked every box for a relaxing few days in a really great location. Very clean and comfortable with a great modern finish to the accommodation. Would recommend to anyone looking for a base to tour the North Yorkshire area and definitely loved the log burner. Well done to the owners for delivering in every way.

Excellent cosy little cottage with everything you need for a home from home! Lovely and clean and very cozy especially when the log burner was lit on a cold night! You didn’t really need it as the heating is ample but the feeling and look is great! Our dog Bella loved staying here and was so close to the beach too! Highly recommend and hopefully will be back thank you for thinking of everything

We had a wonderful stay at Groveside Cottage over the new year. We found it to be very cosy & warm. All furniture was very comfy especially the bed & bedding. Nice little touches for our dog, there was a bed, blanket & towel if needed. Condiments & washing up equipment provided with towels, t.towel & oven gloves also provided. The kitchen was well equipped too. The cottage was only a few seconds walk from the front and a few minutes walk down to the beach. Shops are a 5 minute walk with a supermarket close at hand. We will definitely be back.
