I had very high hopes for this cottage. I was dissapointed to find out after we booked that there was no mobile signal at all. I can understand a lack of WiFi but to have no signal at all thereby no way of contacting family was worrying. There is a telephone line to the house but no phone at all - not even for emergencies. I read some of the reviews and a couple had mentioned in October 2018 that the Wifi was being "looked into" but they had been forced to go back home as their son needed it for work. The finishings in the house are dated. Considering it is not a budget priced house I would have expected something a bit more updated. I have stayed in other cottages in this area for the same price and have always been delighted so this was a dissapointment. No microwave (which is pretty standard these days). The biggest problem for us was the rule that there could be No dogs in the bedroom - OK I can understand no dogs on the bed, but this is the bedroom. Dogs who go on holiday with their owners are usually quite attached and in a strange house they can get anxious. We had to end up with one of us sleeping on the sofa as he was looking for us all night. If a house is to be dog friendly then I would expect the dog to be able to sleep on the bedroom floor. The nearest pub is 2.5 miles away but there is no sidewalk and the roads have traffic belting down them so not safe to walk, especially with the dog. If you are looking for a very quiet holiday and to get away from it all, then its fine, but when you get away its really from everything. On the up side, there is a very friendly farmer called John and some lovely cows. We saw swans, otters, rabbits and deer which were delightful. Walking will keep you fit, and the coastline is beutiful.

A lovely little cottage in a super location, very quiet and peaceful. Very close to beaches and the delightful town of Kirkcudbright, with a good selection of shops, tea rooms, coffee shops, pubs, art gallery with superb cafe. The whole Dumfries & Galloway area seems tranquil and unspoiled. Lots of lovely places to visit within easy reach. Can’t recommend highly enough, definitely be back.

Gullieside is situated at the end of a country lane 150yds from the sea. Idyllic. The cottage is well decorated, clean and cosy. It is unbelievably well equipped, down to children’s wetsuits! The dogs are welcome and the garden and adjacent fields were perfect.

This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful location. We enjoyed some lovely sunsets on the beach just 2 mins away. The cottage was warm and cosy which was very welcome when it started getting cold in the evening. Plenty of hot water for bath or shower. The access through the gate is narrow. We managed but a wide vehicle might find it tight. Overall we had a lovely time and there is plenty to do around the area.

Peace and quiet. Unfortunately we had one of our dogs that was 3 weeks after major surgery so could not take advantage of the walks. It was even impossible to get down to the beach at the end of the road. If the owner had agreed to switching our holiday to 27th (3 weeks later) we might have seen more of the area.
