Hall Garth was perfect for our holiday. The cottage was clean, warm and comfortable and very well equipped. Carol and Gordon were lovely and very welcoming hosts. It was a perfect base for exploring the North York Moors and for visiting Scarborough, Whitby and York. It was great for the kids (they loved the Wendy house and toys in the garden and also the local park) and also for our dog, Hudson. The hot tub is fab too.

The cottage was ideally placed and had all the amenities required for a young family. Spacious, warm and very helpful people on site.

Nice place to stay, lovely area. Hot tub was lovely. very clean house, wasn't bothered by the owners at all. Their house over looks the cottage by the way. Only concern is that the house has old radiators and although hot to touch didn't really heat the house, the fire in the living area was the only real source of heat, the logs provided for this literally lasted about 2 hours. We had to go back to the owners twice for more logs and then they were going to charge us for them! Bearing in mind it was snowing outside!

The location of the cottage was really good. We went as a family gettaway 4 adults and 2 children. It was one of the coldest weekends we have had. When we booked we weren’t told that the heating was on a timer and we wouldn’t be able to adjust this, the cottage was freezing. We were also not made aware that the water was one full tank in a morning and a boost in the afternoon. Not great when there are 6 people in.The bedrooms were freezing and not a great place for 2 year olds even with the extra blankets. The owners didn’t really seem to care that much when they were told it was so cold. We had to buy extra logs from the owners as the local shops had run out due to the weather conditions. We spent over £40 in logs. We were only in Friday night, Saturday morning, Saturday night and left Sunday morning a day earlier than planned because it was so cold. The cottage is slightly dated and could do with abit of an update. The hot tub was great. Overall we wouldn’t stay again.

Girls walking weekend away. We had a lovely time. The owners were very friendly and helpful - we were cooking a Christmas dinner & they kindly offered to lend anything that we were short of in the kitchen. The cottage is very traditional - dating from the 1600's, and internally is a little dated, but perfectly functional. The hot tub is great - we fitted 5 in easily enough. We just found one slight downside to the cottage. We were there on a particularly cold weekend. The cottage wasn't cold - it has a lovely log burning stove and night storage heaters, but we had a problem drying towels etc. However, there is tumble drier - that would have perhaps been our solution! A lovely character cottage in an idyllic location.

Lovely place to stay, very well equipped with plenty of space for everything you need. The fire was lovely and cosy. We wandered into Pickering although it was a further walk to local pubs than expected we chose to do local walks and stay at the cottage majority of the time as it was so nice!

My family and I really enjoyed our time at Hall Garth. It was a relaxing stay and the hot tub was an added bonus! My 2 year old loved the large garden! Only downfall is there isn't a shop within close walking distance. Would defiantly stay again!

Hall Garth is a real gem. Built in the 1060s - yes the 1060 - it was once one cottage and has been divided into two. The present owner of Hall Garth lives next door and was exceptionally approachable and cleaned the hot tube everyday. If you like a hot tub this is for you. Inside the three bedrooms are very comfortable and kitchen very convenient with a sensible floor for those wet days. The lounge is bigger than one might expect and well equipped as was the totally separate dinning room. This is a big bonus and as well equipped as one would have your own, with good furniture, etc. There were ample books, games, maps and leaflets on the area. In truth there was nothing at all to complain about and we will return next year. Highly recommended. John and Pat and the chocolate Labrador who loved the local walks and of course the railway from Pickering to Whitby.

We had a fantastic time in North Yorkshire and that is due mainly to Hall Garth being a fantastic base to explore the area and everything we needed.

The cottage was 'home from home', in a quiet and private setting within easy reach of Flamingo land, Whitby and Scarborough. There is a great food pub just a minute's walk away.
