It was totally unsuitable for arthritic OAPs, the toilets were up a steep staircase. There is no mobile phone signal, so you are cut off from your family. There are no shops in the village, so any essentials are a car ride away. Although there is a sign saying no dogs upstairs the bedrooms reeked of dirty dog.

Lovely stay at Harbour Cottage, July 2019. Glorious weather all week meant we spent many a happy hour in the garden overlooking the harbour, watching the comings and goings. Cottage very comfortable, especially beds. We struggled to get oven working, had to Google how you reset clock but otherwise kitchen was well equipped. Had a power cut for several hours on final night and search for candles proved fruitless, perhaps something worth having in a drawer/cupboard somewhere. Enjoyed trip to Farne Islands on Billy Shiels’ boat, hired bikes from Boards and Bikes and ate pizza from Embers on way to Embleton. All highly recommended. Lack of phone signal/village shop/free cash machine were things we wished we’d realised before but we worked round them. Brilliant stay, would love to return.

From previous reviews I checked prior to booking if the 'cleanliness' issue had been resolved which I was assured had. Week before our holiday I saw two recent poor reviews for poor cleanliness, so again I rang the agent. The cottage is very nice, great location, and we had a lovely holiday. STILL a few cleaning issues, oven, freezer door seal + inner door, black with mold + one kitchen cupboard badly in need of cleaning. Otherwise the cottage was clean and I would return there.

Cottage not as clean as I would normally expect from a holiday cottage. The kitchen especially, I had to clean cupboard fronts and knobs as they were very grubby. Dishwasher door was broken. Location fantastic, especially front garden on a sunny weekend.

Lovely location. Comfortable cottage. Disappointing phone and internet connection. Possibly a rushed change over/clean up?

I absolutely LOVED our stay at Harbour Cottage. The location is amazing, local pub is outstanding, cafe is lovely and the shop at Robson's is just fab. But the best of it all was Harbour Cottage. We really liked it the minute we stepped in.. but I confess that at first I did go around it being uber critical but there was so little to find! And then the longer I was in it the more I realised just how marvellous it is. It's SO comfortable and clean. It's really well equipped.. Anything I went into the kitchen for was there - often more than one. The furniture is all stylish and so comfy (the big double bed especially!) and the 2 bathrooms are really fresh & modern. It got a bit cool in the evenings so we popped the fire on and that just made it :-) Waking up to hear the sea crashing on the harbour rocks right across the road is, as most of us know, the most wonderful thing. Then stepping out to those views and some spectacular walks right there just makes for the most fantastic break. Not forgetting of course a great plate of food and some excellent beers/wines at The Jolly Fisherman and it's an absolute winner. Will definitely be coming back.

We had a lovely time at Harbour cottage. Perfect size for the three of us and the view was marvellous not to mention the sun rises, wow !! Made use of the binoculars when we went a boat trip to the Farne islands. The cottage was just the type of property we hoped it would be. ??

The cottage is a lovely character cottage. The position within the village is great. The pub and cafe well worth visiting. The only downside for us was the cleanliness of the floors. I realise this visit was at the end of what must have been a busy season but the carpets were filthy. We had to keep slippers or socks on all week just to walk around. Again it is a dog friendly cottage but we could smell dog in the cottage despite the cleaner trying to cover it up with a very strong smelling disinfectant. We stay in dog friendly all of time and pay high prices to attempt to ensure it is as clean as we would expect at home.
