Located right in the centre of Watchet, the cottage has a delightful, enclosed terrace backing onto the harbour. A great place to sit and witness one of the highest tidal ranges in the world. Watchet has a long history which is evident all around, and just outside the front door of the cottage is the town’s old gaol and museum. There is a good range of shops, pubs, tea rooms and restaurants, and the harbour is a great place to sit on sunny afternoons and enjoy an ice cream. The two beaches are perfect for rock pooling, fossil hunting and are dog friendly all year round. Watchet also benefits from having a railway station connected to the West Somerset Steam Railway. This well-run line offers a great day out for all ages.
Nearby Minehead has a good range of shops and other amenities. Visit Dunster Castle and medieval village, Porlock Weir and the Victorian towns of Lynton and Lynmouth for a great day out. For those who enjoy walking, the famous South West Coast Path starts in Minehead, with the West Somerset Coast Path linking it to Watchet. There is a wealth of spectacular walking on nearby Exmoor, The Quantock and Brendon Hills. There are beaches at Minehead, Blue Anchor and Dunster and a little further afield are the brilliant surfing beaches of Croyde and Woolacombe.
