Conveniently located at the foot of Pendle Hill in the small Pendleside village of Fence guests can enjoy easy access to the whole of Lancashire and the Yorkshire Dales. The small village of Fence up until late medieval times lay in the Forest of Pendle and was the hunting preserve of the king. The area boasts a large number of great pubs and restaurants including one 700 yards away which was awarded a Michelin Star in 2018 and is only one of three in the county. The surrounding countryside provides an abundance of fine walks. Pendle Hill just 3 miles away and the neighbouring villages are renowned for the legend of the Pendle Witches and the most notorious witch trial of the 17th century. St. Mary’s Church located in Newchurch is home to the tombstone known as the ’witches grave’. Take a trip to the popular market towns of Clitheroe and Skipton which can both be reached in under half an hour. Further afield the Lake District and many popular holiday spots along the Fylde Coast can also be reached in under an hour. Beach 44 miles.     Of all the cottages I've stayed in (and there's been a fair few) Harper's Cottage is my favourite. A delightful, cosy home from home with all the thoughtful little extras to make our weekend special. Anne, the owner, was attentive and kind and went the extra mile to look after us. The location was perfect for a weekend getaway with lots of lovely places to visit nearby. Couldn't recommend Harper's Cottage highly enough.

    We had a wonderful week in Harpers Cottage. The house was comfortable and warm, and the kitchen was well-supplied with everything you could possibly need. When the clouds lifted the view from the kitchen was glorious.

    This is a lovely cottage in a good position for touring the area. It felt like a home from home with a comfortable and spacious lounge and kitchen. The very helpful owner was only a text message away. It has a small garden at the back which catches the sun and is a good place to relax with a drink. Parking is on the street at the front but we always managed to find a space without problems.

    The cottage exceeded our expectations, it was beautifully furnished with lots of homely touches. The owners were fantastic and very flexible with us. We managed to eat out most nights in a different place, all within a mile if the cottage which was perfectly situated for exploring the Pendle countryside but also within easy reach of supermarkets. We would definitely consider going again.
