We really enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere at Harthopeburn Cottage. It was an ideal place to relax and explore Weardale. There are a couple of reasons the cottage has not got full marks from us: the crockery has seen distinctly better days and is rather chipped and worn. Also the property is for sale and we nearly had people peering through the windows on a couple of occasions. The drying room at the back of the house is a great facility but was really cold. Perhaps the radiator just needs bleeding. Luckily the weather allowed for washing to be put outside. On the plus sides however it was clean and tidy and the seat at the front of the house was a great place to eat our breakfasts and have a cuppa listening to the stream and the birds and the sheep. We really enjoyed staying there and felt so relaxed we didn't want to come home! This review may sound like a moan but we did honestly enjoy ourselves and look forward to coming back to Weardale.

A cosy cottage but tired.. some of the equipment in the kitchen should have been thrown out some while ago.. and the damp walls need seeing too..

I booked this cottage for a well needed break, and from the moment of booking it the owners were friendly and helpful. It had everything we needed and the location was absolutely perfect. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking at going, and I will certainly hope to be back again in the future.

We enjoyed our short break in this lovely, cosy cottage . It had everything we needed apart from candles or a torch. I say this as the power went off (in the whole area ) and we spent a lot of time with no lights or cooker. A torch or candles would have been very handy as we read this is quite a regular thing . Apart from that all was good .

What can I say, it was just perfect, a beautiful little cottage set in the most idyllic of places. The cottage was fully equipped and very clean and only 5 minutes walk to the coop and little cafe.I would highly recommend it especially if your looking for somewhere quiet and peaceful to relax. Thankyou for a lovely relaxing new year.

Great cottage located just off the main street, cosy & warm with everything you could need (except a hairdryer). Walks literally on your doorstep and sheep looking in kitchen window. Pubs in the village. Stanhope for Indian takeaway & chip shop not too far. We enjoyed a lovely meal at the Langdon Beck Hotel. Great Communication & info from owners. A Fab weekend & would return.
