With the added benefit of off road parking you can take advantage of all the town’s amenities without having to worry about town centre traffic and parking. Downstairs is a cosy living room well-equipped dining kitchen and cloakroom with toilet. Upstairs are three comfortable bedrooms and a family bathroom and to the rear is an enclosed garden ideal for alfresco dining in the summer months.\n\nThe charming market town of Clitheroe offers a great selection of individual boutiques and specialist shops including the famous Cowman’s Sausage Shop which sells over 75 varieties and the award-winning Byrnes Wine Shop which has an underground cellar full of vintage wines. There are also several supermarkets for all the self-catering essentials although many visitors will prefer to eat out as there are so many lovely restaurants coffee shops pubs cafés and a brewery to choose from. Clitheroe is also home to a 12th-century Norman castle which towers over the town. Thought to be the smallest Norman castle in England it is now home to a museum and gardens which include a children’s playground and skate park. There are events held in the grounds throughout the year and there are also several circular walks from the castle which will take you around the town and surrounding countryside.\n\nSurrounded by stunning unspoilt countryside Clitheroe is the perfect base from which to explore the Ribble Valley and Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Lovers of literature will enjoy a visit to nearby Stonyhurst College where both JRR Tolkien and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle spent time. You can also walk the ’Tolkien Trail’. Other places worth visiting within easy driving distance include Lancaster Morecambe Bay and Blackpool which are all within an hours drive or accessible from Clitheroe train station which is within walking distance. You can drive to the Yorkshire Dales National Park in around 40 minutes and even the Lake District is only just over an hour away making Henthorn Place an ideal touring base.     We had a wedding at Holmes Mill that was a short walk away. This made the location excellent for what we needed not sure for other things I’m afraid. We never used any of the local amenities so could not make it a higher score. Everything we needed was available to use with in the property from hairdryer to a sewing kit as well as the basics such as towels tea coffee etc. The owner we very welcoming and explained how things worked, things in the area too. With a folder to explain this and local information. Very helpful with directions and promptly replied to messages and questions. Property was very clean, well maintained, perfect for our weekend stay.

    immaculate premises, really comfy and warm feel. The extra touch of a Xmas present for our little girl was a lovely surprise and much appreciated. We are from this area so getting around isn't an issue. Can't really fault anything as much as i try! Will be staying again, and definitely recommending to my work colleagues for future visits.

    This was the most nicely decorated, cleanest and best equipped self-catering accommodation we've had. The only negative thing was that it was located in a housing estate, although very convenient for walking into town. The gates for the drive are quite narrow so you have to take care, although you can also park on the road.
