Please note There is an unfenced pond in the garden 25 yards away.\n Perfectly situated in the picturesque Durham Dales on the cusp of the Weardale Valley and surrounded by fields and countryside High Bank Farm truly is the most idyllic location for guests wishing to really explore the area. Traditional and comfortable throughout this detached house boasts plenty of space for six people. On the ground floor are two separate living rooms which are both traditionally furnished in keeping with the style of the property. The main living room offers a wood burner making this a great spot for a winter’s evening. On the first floor guests will find a large family bathroom a twin bedroom a spacious kingsize bedroom with lovely views over the front garden and a further double bedroom also with lovely views and an en-suite shower room. Surrounding the property there are lawned gardens and an unfenced pond that is popular with the local birds and wildlife. \n\nPerfect for walkers guests will find many established public footpaths that lead out from the grounds and through the hills and dales of County Durham and Weardale Valley and pass through nearby villages and beyond. The closest pub is a mere 2-mile walk away in the nearby village of Butterknowle and there is also a super fish and chip shop in the nearby village of Cockfield which lies just 3 miles away and is definitely worth the trip. Cyclists ramblers and leisurely walkers will find many walks and cycle paths for guests of all abilities and ages that will take guests on towards nearby villages and towns including Wackerfield 5 miles Barnard Castle 8½ miles and Piercebridge 12 miles. \n\nThe town of Bishop Auckland is just over 8 miles away and hosts the extremely popular Kynren show from July-September every year. This spectacular show tells the epic tale of England through 2000 years of storytelling. With a cast and crew of over 1000 volunteers Kynren is a world class show brought to life with magnificent sets scenery stunning pyrotechnics and a thrilling soundtrack. Hamsterley Forest is only 8 miles away and is a delightful 2000-hectare site of popular walking trails including the Gruffalo Trail cycle trails and orienteering as well as plenty of spots for the perfect picnic. \n\nThe thriving market town of Barnard Castle is often popular with guests and hosts a weekly farmers market some super local pubs restaurants and shops and is only 10 miles away. Guests of all ages will love Raby Castle which can also be reached within a short drive and is a must see for those who wish to catch a glimpse of over two hundred deer which wander the grounds and are so comfortable in their natural habitat. Staindrop 6 miles is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and offers tea shops cafés and a local family butcher whilst the nature reserve of Low Barns lies to the north at Witton-le-Wear. The property is also perfect for guests wanting to visit the cathedral city of Durham and is only a 30-minute drive away. This is a city that thrives all year round and popular tourist attractions include the theatre Durham Castle and Durham Cathedral as well as many designer boutiques and shops. Festivals throughout the year include a jazz festival book week and arts week and the Lumiere Festival held every other year.     The landlord has a dry sense of humour but he is a top bloke and really cares. I got exactly what I wanted which is a detached property in the countryside for total peace & quiet. Thank you for the effort of the Christmas trees Bill 🎄❤️

    High Bank Farm is a lovely comfortable spacious farmhouse sitting on a rise with country views all around. It is well equipped and we wished we had brought the family with us as it has ample room for six people.

    Had a fantastic weekend. The cottage was perfect, loads of space for 6 people and 2 dogs. The facilities are 1st class and there is everything you need. There are plenty of attractions to visit within a short drive of the cottage. I would highly recommend a holiday at High Bank Farm.

    A lovely place away from the hustle and bustle within easy reach of loads of things to do, most within half hour drive or less. Property was ideal for us, 2 families shared (6 in total) and had plenty of room for us all, well equipped but could do with a few extra pieces of crockery and cutlery. Plenty of recommended eat outs from the owner we approve as we verified most of them. Would definitely use High Bank Farm again.

    This cottage was beautiful. The views from every window was amazing. It was deceptively massive with lots of grounds which the dog loved. We greeted by the owners who were lovely and so friendly. We will definitely be returning (we would love to own a house exactly like that in the future)

    Excellent accomodation, nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. Would highly recommend staying here. Although there are no local amenities this is exactly what we wanted. Back to basics with my teenagers, no internet just good old fashioned board games
