We had a great week in this lovely cottage - it's well located, well equipped and the little garden is a treat - if you are lucky enough to get good weather! We would definitely recommend it and we will certainly be back for another stay.

A beautiful cottage that we have now stayed in twice when visiting the Lakes. It is in an ideal location, just minutes walk from local shops, pubs, restaurants etc. The cottage itself is cosy, well maintained and has everything you need. Being situated in the heart of the Lakes we were able to do lots of walking but also on a rainy day the cottage was nice enough that we enjoyed spending time there reading and playing board games. The owners have provided a selection of maps and walking books for a range of abilities that were great for inspiration for days out. The parking permit provided is super convenient and can be used in nearby towns and villages, saving a lot of money on parking costs. We had a lovely holiday and would highly recommend High White Stones.

We have stayed at High White Stones for at least five years running. The first-floor cottage is always nice and clean on arrival, and it is easy to feel right at home when we open the door. It is a cozy place, but there is enough open space so it doesn't feel cramped. The location provides very easy access to lovely Ambleside and the many walks from town. Some of the unique features which keep us coming back is the big hallway entrance which allows you to get rid of all your gear without intruding on the living space and the little outdoor seating area with a nice view of Wansfell. At some point, future guests would appreciate getting the toilet sorted to make it easier to flush. We've got it nailed now, but I can understand it could be frustrating for new guests. Also, the cottage no longer provides washing up liquid and a few dishwasher tablets as they have done in the past - this required an extra trip to the shops when we arrived. All-in-all, a very pleasant place to stay, and I would recommend it if you plan a visit to the Lake District for the first time or a return visit.

Lovely cottage in perfect location for great walks and scenery of the beautiful Lake district. Cottage comfortable and had a good variety of usual home comforts. In comparison to other cottages we've stayed in, it lacked in personal touches, e.g. Welcome pack. Cleaning products. Complimentary bathroom treats.

The location is perfect the permit for the car park is a great idea glad we had that..there was a few niggles for us in the cottage though..the settees are very uncomfortable especially the cream one..the ironing board needs recovering urgently..there was a dishwasher but no tablets..we had wonderful sunny weather but we couldn't open any windows in the living area..finally it takes a few attempts to flush the toilet! Ambleside is a pretty place to stay with plenty of eating places.

We are quite tall and found the settees small and low. Not very comfortable. Would have loved to open the windows too.

A great spot for your Lake District escape/holiday right in the heart of Ambleside. In essence it’s a first floor flat finished to a high specification and stocked with every sort of utensil and mod con you could ever want. The entrance is on the ground floor leading to a few steps up to the first floor. Here you can leave your coats and boots before entering through the entrance door into the cottage. A lounge diner configuration greets you with two sofas and a table and chairs for meals. To your right is the fully equipped kitchen with job/oven, dish washer and washing machine. Off this room is the main bedroom with the en-suite through another door. The cottage had been given a Christmas makeover for us and we loved every minute of our time here. One special Christmas escape. You won’t be disappointed if you book a stay here no matter what time of year you visit.
