A lovely cottage, great location and superb views, although lacked outside seating areas which got much sun in the evening. Well enclosed space around the house and access to a large rough pasture field (if no livestock in residence) was excellent for dogs. The beds were very comfy and rooms were large and beautifully presented. Practical equipment was problematic - lacking enough mugs, glasses and plates requiring twice daily dishwasher use, cutlery was of poor quality, inadequate lighting to read by in sitting rooms and bedrooms, uncomfortable sofas in the small sitting room and repairs outstanding eg shower rail unstable, taps loose, leaking kettle and no information on how to regulate/ change heating settings; all disappointing for a house of this price and presentation. The promised estate staff visit on arrival did not happen, although email contact was made mid-stay. Generally clean but crockery and glassware had clearly not been checked, some carpets, chairs and walls were marked and scuffed. We loved the house and its setting, but more attention to practicalities needed - and the fire pit in the garden is clearly for show - overhung by trees and stacked with huge logs which would be impossible to light - the generous supply of logs for the wood burners was however much appreciated.

Wonderful location, an attractive cottage in a beautiful area. However, it does need more comfortable outdoor furniture and somewhere to hang clothes - two coat hangers and no wardrobes between 6 people is not enough!! Also, please get rid of the yellow stain on the bedroom rug.

Higher Scarcliffe is extremely comfortable-- a "farmhouse" kitchen with Yorkshire stone floors and modern appliances, very well equipped for making meals; great beds and pillows; a high-ceilinged Great Room where you can sit and relax in front of the fire. The conversion has retained all the character of the original farmhouse without feeling dowdy and outdated. I loved this place. I must mention the incredible views -- the sheep, fields, stone walls, the dramatic skies: postcard perfect. One caveat: if you are used to wide North American roads, you may find the drive in somewhat nerve-wracking.

Fabulous Yorkshire Long Barn in a stunning location. Amazing views from every window. Loved the vaulted ceiling in the main living area, the huge fireplaces, the thickness of the walls, the mezzanine den area, the cosy snug, the fabulous dining table with views over the Dales, the farmhouse kitchen where everyone loved washing up as they looked out at the view from the window. Dog friendly too, our little pooch loved the space to run around inside and outside. Milk and wine in the fridge and a little gift of cake on the table were lovely touches too. Can’t fault this place, we had a fantastic week, with various family members coming to visit and the space to accommodate everyone.

We stayed for February half term as a family of 3 generations & 2 dogs. We all loved the house & surrounding areas. We felt well looked after, even the dogs were left 2 large bones to enjoy. Just perfect & we can’t wait to return. Many thanks to the Broughton Hall estate team

Excellent property for a large group and imagine in the summer comes into it's own! The large vaulted room is sadly just too big for winter months as didn't warm up enough, even with fire going and heating on. I am not sure whether there would normally be a tv in this room, (not one when we stayed) but it needed one! Beds comfortable enough although we found them a little hard. We felt the garden was not completely secure for all types of dog, we didn't take ours this time, but have 2 young springer spaniels and are pretty certain that the smaller one would have got through the fencing/railings. Village shop fine and within easy reach of Skipton.

Lovely cottage which was situated in a great place however it wasn’t within a mile walking distance to the local pub. The beds were very comfy. We would recommend putting chicken mesh at the bottom of the gates so dogs could be let lose in the garden, and not to have to worry about the sheep. Also sharper knives and more utensils such as potato masher and wooden spoons. Overall fab place and would love to go back.
