This cottage is lovely with beautiful furniture throughout the house. beds were very comfortable with clean towels and bedding. Furniture in lounge lovely and comfy, just what you need when you come back from a days walking. Well equipped kitchen with good quality crockery, glasses etc. The kitchen sink area and work surface is a little tired and could possibly do with replacing. Unfortunately, the spring dried up on our last evening so we were unable to have showers but there was plenty of bottled water in the garage so we managed. Not sure if this is a bit of a problem, as there were at least 50 bottles In the garage. This is The price you pay for being in the country side!
I contacted Tracey who owns the cottage to let her know that the flue needed attention in the lounge as smoke was billowing out of it when we lit it. She was going to get it seen to ASAP.
Would I go back? yes despite the niggles it was one of the nicest cottages I have stayed in!
What could be improved is some coat hooks and a boot rack as if it had been wet we would have struggled to hang our coats and the hall is massive

From the minute we walked into this property we felt at home, were it was located was everything we wanted, the views were fabulous, and it was so peaceful.
The barn was tastefully decorated with a lovely wood burning fire, which we soon got going, which made the living room feel so warm and cosy, the kitchen was well equipped and their was even a welcome pack in the fridge which we didn't expect.
The bedrooms were lovely and the beds were very comfortable and we had a great night sleep.
The owner was very informative about the area, and told us how to get to the nearest village and more importantly the local pub, which is about a 30 minute walk but it was a lovely walk so was not a problem.
We would definitely go back.

Lovely cottage, in a very quite country lane, 6 Adults 2 children and a dog the cottage was just perfect for us all. Very comfortable, log fire, great beds, a lovely welcome food pack, fabulous views, walk's just across the road.We all had a wonderful time.
Games, Books, Maps... Thought of everything to make it home from home.
Just 1 thing that needs looking at... a lock on the main bedroom door that leads to the only shower room,we had to put a sign up to say we were in the shower...
Very pleased with our weekend away in this lovely cottage.
We had a lovely family, celebratory, short break at Higher Well Head Barn which was an absolutely perfect, spacious and comfortable barn in a picturesque rural location with stunning views, fantastic walks on the doorstep and great facilities in the barn itself for the evenings including a library of books for all ages and plenty of board games and DVD's to choose from. The owner was extremely helpful via text messaging and provided a well-appreciated welcome pack. There are no local amenities due to the rural location apart from two pubs in the next village, Newchurch in Pendle village itself only has a 'Witches Shop', hence the 8 rating but there are shops a short drive away including a large Tesco for deliveries and we brought everything with us for our short break. Would definitely recommend Higher Well Head Barn for any family with a dog or friends meeting up and would definitely love to return. Thank you for a memorable Birthday!
a bit isolated. the house could do with an update in areas, particularly the bathrooms and kitchen.
it was very difficult to find the place and no indication that you have reached the house, more guesswork than a sign saying you have reached your destination.
for the walkers, it's a perfect destination.
