Lovely cottage but the road is dangerous, cars travel at speed around the corner so no good if you have small children, walking disability or elderly but nice central location.

Very quant and cosy. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely little cottage located in Haverthwaite. It had everything you needed for your stay including a welcome basket. Only downside was that we found the mattress uncomfortable on the double bed.

Lovely little cottage, very cosy. Only slight negatives were the parking and dog walking area are across a busy road (with a 3 year old in tow anyway!)

Gorgeous, cosy cottage perfect base for exploring the Lakes from. Christmas here was super relaxing and would definitely come back again. Extremely well equipped house, it has everything you may need!

We regularly stay here because it is close to friends so convenient for our needs. It's a lovely cottage but although the owners are very dog friendly the location isn't, there is no immediate outside space and so you have to leave the property and walk down the road to a field every time your dog needs loo. Very clean and every thing you need for a short stay, there's a pub in walking distance which serves nice food but you do need to drive to get into the national park for walking and sightseeing

Lovely cosy cottage with a wonderful log burner that was a great base for walking. Very welcoming and the pack of goodies was a lovely surprise. Local pub was great and you can take dogs there. Would definitely recommend.

Great little cottage in a beautiful location. Well equipped and clean. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and didn’t want to leave. Our Cockapoo liked it too !!

Gorgeous little cottage furnished and decorated to a really high standard and was absolutely spotless when we arrived. It's a lovely quiet area with a pub about half a mile away and not too far to drive to various touristy things to do in the Lake District. I only had 2 complaints. Firstly, the bed in the master bedroom is hellishly uncomfortable. I don't know how a bed can be too hard and too soft at the same time but it is horrendous, so I didn't sleep well the whole time we were there. That said, mattresses are a very personal thing and it might be fine for someone different. Secondly, the advertisement and check in information states there would be enough logs to get us started on the first night. We arrived quite late after a long day walking and the nights have just turned chilly so we were really looking forward to getting a fire lit and getting warm, but there were no logs left for us. This really annoyed me as we would have just brought some from home had we known, but it was advertised there would be some. So we started looking to see if we could buy some, but there are no local shops and we would have had to drive out to a petrol station about 8 miles away. So we attempted to turn the heating on which was another hour of running round trying to find the boiler and which switch does what and how to work the excessively confusing heating system. Which wasn't really what we wanted to get warm on the first night. All that said, it didn't ruin what was a lovely holiday and we would definitely stay at Hillcroft Cottage again. It really is a beautiful little place to stay!

Very clean cottage and thoughtfully appointed. Warm and comfortable. Fine for single person or couple a bit cramped for 3 people. Improvements could be made: No bread knife - blunt knives demolished my sour dough -or teapot. Heating/hot water controls need to be simpler for the non-techies. No light bulb in living room lamp. Loo difficult to flush - similar comments made by previous guests. No private sitting out area although neighbour was very pleasant.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay in Hillcroft Cottage. The cottage was beautiful and we had a great time. I’m 7 months pregnant so it was great that there was a bath as well as a shower. We chose to cook each night and found the cooking facilities to be great. We found that a lot of stuff I’d packed was already there (fairy, sponge, cling film etc) so this was great. The only thing the kitchen could benefit from is a casserole dish. My daughter aged 5 said her bed was very comfy and our bed was comfy too. We will definitely be back and have already recommended it to a few people.
