    Perched in an elevated position in the grounds of the owner’s home and with wonderful open views towards Moffat Water and the Southern Upland Way, this light and comfortable detached cottage has two conservatories to make the most of the sun all day long. It is just over a mile away from Moffat with its wide high street, good local shopping, pubs and restaurants, and is ideally located to visit both Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as the Solway Coast. Enjoy stunning scenery around St Mary’s Loch and the impressive waterfall known as the ’Grey Mare’s Tail’. Hillwalking options are aplenty, and other outdoor pursuits include golf, fishing and spectacular stargazing, as Moffat has been designated as the first Dark Sky town in Europe.

    Ruth and Martin made my wife and I feel right at home. A great location. A mile to town. Very peaceful. Great gardens surrounded the cottage. Our little dog was safe in the enclosed private garden. In our opinion 10/10.

    An ideal cottage for a couple, all facilities very good , and Ruth and Martin very welcoming. View from the cottage all around is super with a terrace to step out on with table and chairs, plus lovely front garden with trees and bushes. Moffatt is an ideal location, very central for visiting the surrounding area, and if you continue on the same road as Hillend Cottage the scenery and hills are really beautiful. If you want to eat out at any time would recommend the small Star Hotel, High Street, Moffatt.

    Great little cottage for two people. Easy to get about to other places and Moffat is a super small town with great choices for dining. Really enjoyed watching the garden birds. We found the main sitting area a little chilly but the owners kindly adjusted the heating for us. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others.
