Great place to visit North Yorkshire. The North Yorkshire steam railway and on to Whitby. York (to much to mention). Castle Howard, Thornton-Le-Vale (a gem). All the coast. All the moors. Nothing is too far away. Then back to a home from home. Lovely welcome from Alice. Fully equipped cottage. Warm and cosy. Stairs are very steep but survivable. All in all, a great stay. P.S. Go off the beaten track. Found a brilliant ruin of an Abbey (English Heritage) just by chance. Always worth a look.

Had a great stay. The cottage is very cosy and clean. We took our 5.5 month old and had no problems at all. Lovely cake to greet us and really handy to travel out to all the local attractions. Pickering steam railway, Whitby, Scarborough, York. We live in a quiet cul de sac and even though the property is on a main road we barely noticed traffic noise. The car parking is very close by (3 doors down) so really easy to park and there is always space. Lovely house to stay in

My family and I had a lovely long weekend at holly cottage. The house is very cute and cosy just enough space for the 3 of us (we have a 1 year old) .the bedrooms are large and lovingly decorated and the kitchen is fully equipt with everything even a high chair for little one. The owner Alice (who was utterly charming and extremely welcoming) laid a wonderful spread of scones and Victoria sponge which after a long travel from Suffolk was a very welcome sight! (The Victoria sponge was sublime!) Parking the car round the corner in the pub car park was really not a problem as the walk to it takes 30 seconds max and the road can be a little noisy at night but otherwise we really didn't notice the traffic. The only change I would suggest would be some new seating in the living room as we did find the sofas hard to get comfy on in the evening to watch tv. I thought a corner sofa under the stairs with the tv infront of the window would make best use of the room space ☺ but overall a wonderful base for exploring Yorkshire and we would love to come back if only just for some of Alice's delicious cake!

An exceptionally well equipped cottage in a great location with easy access to the moors, Whitby, Scarborough and York. As clean as could be and the cream tea on arrival was a lovely touch, bread, milk, tea, coffee and butter also provided. Great value for money and will definitely stay again when in the area.
