The cottage is very comfortable and bright. The large windows let in loads of light so the overall feeling is cheerful. It is well situated for travelling to various places of interest both on the coast and inland. We enjoyed some very good food at local pubs. The lady who owns the property and lives very close by is very pleasant and helpful.

We needed a short stay in a nice village but near to Middlesborough centre, and this was ideal. On the edge of the National Park, so lots to visit within a moderate distance. The house is very comfortable, and the log fire made it especially cosy.

We really enjoyed our stay at Holme End. A lovely, comfortable cottage set in a peacefull location set back from the road. Everything we needed was there and the owner was very frendly and helpful. The pubs are less than a five minuit walk away and all serve food but anything else is a 10 min drive. Well located centrally for all the market towns and sitting on the top edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. Whitby and the coast is also just ove half an hour away.

Second visit to Holme End with an aim to visiting friends near-by. Peaceful, quiet location with lovely views out of the windows. Dog friendly with lovely walks straight from the property, but not good if your dog likes to wander as the garden is not secure and is shared with the owner who lives on site. Enjoyed our stay.

We made ourselves known to the owner of the property who lives at No 46. She advised us to park our car to the rear of the accommodation which involved driving through a ford, over a narrow bridge, up a quite steep and very uneven dirt track, through the gated entry into the rear garden of the premises. You will park your car on grass (which hadn't been cut for at least a couple of weeks and was very wet early in the morning and late at night) guided in especially at night by garden solar lights. I can imagine that in bad weather people will get their shoes very wet & muddy. We entered the premises to be greeted by a damp/musty smell which was eventually remidied by opening all of the doors & windows. Inside the kitchen there was the smallest fridge that I have ever seen. The bathroon was very dated and the shower was less than useless. Into the main bedroom to find quite a small and very uncomfortable bed. Into the lounge area to find a 2 seater settee and 2 very uncomfortable easy? chairs. There were NO CURTAINS in any of the rooms just verticle blinds. There were weeds growing in the patio area and the garden area (lawn & shrubbery which looked onto the back door of the premises) was so overgrown we only used it to put rubbish into the dustbin. There is no shop in the village. It looked as if had closed quite a long time ago. The nearest shop that we found was in Stokesley, about 5 miles away
