Unfortunately, there were some details which we felt affected our rating and overall enjoyment of our break. For example, the stand alone fridge was much smaller than a standard integral fridge and although we had only booked for three nights it was impossible to fit our food in, let alone any drinks. Although, there were enough mugs and glasses there wasn’t 4 of any that were the same size. The sofas in the living room were two seaters but so small it was uncomfortable for to adults to sit on them at the same time which was a shame as we wanted to watch the rugby. Plus the TVs in the bedrooms were larger than the main one in the living room.

Well appointed cottage with lovely view across the Derwent valley and a friendly and helpful owner

Despite speaking to the owner prior to visit, he didn't mention that the sky t.v. was not available despite it being advertised on his web site. Neither were we told that we couldn't use the garden because it was closed due to ongoing work. The age of the accommodation was interesting, the bathrooms very nice and modern, but the bedroom wardrobes, which looked home made, could do with some lining on the shelves rather than being bare wood. I agree with someone else's comment that the fridge freezer is totally inadequate. There were just two of us and we found it too small ,so far too small for a family of four.

I travelled with my husband and children, aged 3 and 3 months. The property is located off a main road but the layout of the property meant this was not an issue and the traffic noice was minimal once inside. The views are just gorgeous! My son was very happy to see the little steam train pass by on the track just beyond the garden. The en-suite bedrooms are located on the ground floor with a balcony and the living areas are upstairs. There was a toilet located off the living room so you didn’t have to go downstairs. The kitchen was well equipped. We found it difficult to cook without setting off the smoke alarm even with the window open but this was a small issue. There is many attractions within short driving distance including the Peak Railway, The Heights of Abraham, Gulliver’s Kingdom, Chatsworth and Crich Tramway museum. There are a few pubs within easy walking distance and a co-op and a Sainsbury’s supermarket within a short drive. The owner Geoff was very friendly and amenable. We would definitely stay again.

Fabulous few days in this lovely cottage. Location ideal for lots of trips out - Crich tramway village, Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Bakewell, as well as Matlock. Main road location but very peaceful and the views are stunning! Both bedrooms en-suite, plus a third toilet upstairs on the same level as lounge and well equipped kitchen. Heavenly stay. Only slight watchword is that the stairs between upstairs and downstairs are a bit daunting if you’re elderly or of limited mobility. My 83 year old mum struggled a little bit but maintains that if you just take your time it’s worth it for the views!

Excellent facilities and very clean. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds comfy. Private garden areas and beautiful views. Would definitely recommend.

Really enjoyed our stay. Lovely big rooms and garden. Very clean and everything in nice condition. Could really do with a bigger fridge though?
