In the small village of St Michael’s on Wyre this terraced cottage offers a convenient location between the market town of Garstang and popular Blackpool with its many attractions. It is situated on the River Wyre with an impressive church dating back to 640AD the best views of which can be enjoyed from the riverbanks. Further along the river you will reach open countryside with great views of Beacon Fell in the distance.\n\nOn the doorstep of the beautiful Forest of Bowland an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the Ribble Valley Cumbria and the Lake District as well as Blackpool and the Fylde Coast it is ideal for families or groups of friends looking to explore this diverse area. The popular market town of Garstang 4 miles away offers a variety of individual shops cafes and a weekly market every Thursday. Blackpool is just 10 miles away with Blackpool Pleasure Beach Madame Tussauds and the Sandcastle Water Park. The Ribble Valley and spectacular Forest of Bowland offer an abundance of rural walks and cycle routes with many great pubs and restaurants along the way for a rest. Beach 15 miles.     Small details missing that are usually present in other 'luxury' properties we have stayed at. Lack of basic kitchen equipment, tea towels, dish cloths. The sink has no drainer so more cups/mugs required if dishwasher is only means of cleaning dishes. No vacuum cleaner. Lack of coffee/side tables for drinks in lounge or kitchen seating area. Outside lights to garden extension were not working. Plus side - free netflix account on lounge tv and broadband speed very good. Owners might consider leaving a welcome pack, instruction details re- TV, and appliances in property, and considering the work carried out on the property photos showing refurbishment would be a nice touch.

    Beautiful cottage. We particularly enjoyed the large, light kitchen diner and also the lounge with its fire and comfy sofa. Nice to be able to go for a walk straight out of the back door. Virtually-next door pub (The Grapes) does nice food. Only downside was road noise. We all slept fine but light sleepers might want ear plugs. Finally, Ricky and Pippa were both friendly and helpful.

    We stayed for 4 days with a toddler and had a very relaxing time. The garden was fantastic for running around in and there is a footpath from the carpark to the river with lots of wildlife to see. Supermarkets are a short drive to Garstang, we stocked up at Aldi and Booths. We visited Sealife in Blackpool and went to Blackpool Zoo, both amazing and not too far to drive. We also went to a small kids farm north of Garstang called Old Hollies Farm which had an indoor play area for kids and two places to eat. There is a local pub, but we didn't try it. The house itself is gorgeous and very comfortable, very decent shower with plenty of power, good wifi, instant heating, good TV, good sofa, well equipped kitchen. We brought our own mattress for the travelcot, which you will need if bringing a baby/toddler. You do notice the odd lorry drive past at night which I saw someone comment on in a previous review, but it really didn't bother us and didn't wake the little one. We plan on coming back at some point in the future as the holiday ticked all our boxes and we had the best time.
