A lovely cottage with fabulous views, especially looking out from the sun room. Very nice beds, powerful shower, plenty of towels provided. Kitchen is well equipped & has full sized fridge/freezer which is very useful. Laundry service available. Cows & sheep in the fields, rabbits, hares & phesants on the estate. Rural location & perfect for families.

Excellent place to get away from every day bustle and extremely comfortable! Hosts welcoming and brought fresh eggs! Saw Kestrels, hares but no squirrel! Maybe next time! Beautiful surrounding countryside with plenty of places to visit both on the coast and inland. If someone did not want to travel for newspaper etc in morning then this lovely house is for you. Thank you

Lovely cottage in a beautiful quiet location on a working estate, perfect for getting away from it all. Well equipped, well appointed, very clean and comfortable. Wonderful views of the Northumbrian landscape from the lovely dining/sitting area with windows on all sides. Dark skies and no noise apart form the cows, sheep and birds and a very occasional farm vehicle. We were indeed visited by a red squirrel on 2 occasions ! and saw hares running up the fields. Local walks and drives lovely and the Northumberland National Park and coast are very beautiful. There isn't a washing machine but they do a laundry service once a week if needed; and my only negative was that the main bedroom mattress was very hard - I couldn't sleep on it and would have preferred a softer one, but that is a matter of choice. Apart from that, the cottage and it's location are wonderful and I would definitely return.

Beautiful remote, quiet location. Friendly Red squirrels and young cattle for company. Cottage was very clean and tidy and well presented, however the kingside bed was a little hard for our liking, but a topper could cure that easily. The Wifi is excellent, as the phone signal is somewhat intermittent at best. Great cottage to get away from it all, we didn't turn the TV on once during our week's stay, not even using the lounge just soaking up the amazing scenery and quiet surroundings from the sun room, only sheep, cattle and red squirrels munching on the feeder to disturb the peace. We also saw a number of hares really close to the cottage too. All in all, we had a fabulous time touring around Northumbria and returned to wonderful views and serenity. Bliss.

A lovely cottage in rural surroundings, with plenty of wildlife and not much else. Quiet and well built cottage considering it is so old, but the modernisation is recent and good quality fittings used.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay in Squirrel Cottage. The cottage was beautifully clean and extremely comfortable. It had everything that we needed and was perfectly located in lovely countryside. The views were wonderful and it was especially perfect at night for stargazing. Although there are no shops or pubs on the doorstep, Rothbury is only 5 miles away and this contains everything you need. What it lacks in immediate facilities, it more than makes up for in terms of perfect, walking countryside.

Squirrel cottage is very well equipped and ideal for a weekly break and is in a stunning location, but also convenient for getting out and about within Northumbria. There are good facilities for eating out close by and the town of Rothbury has a good selection of shops to cater for any needs for your stay. It is a a bit remote in other respects but that is a smaller price to pay for such a stunning location in a very comfortable house.
