Perfect for couples and oozing with character, dating back to the 1600’s, this former stable and bottle store was an integral part of history for The Blackcock Inn. The inn and cottage are steeped in history and boast pictures proudly showing the time Lawrence of Arabia stayed for two weeks. Situated in the centre of the very pretty little village of Falstone, Honeysuckle Cottage is set within the grounds of the quiet village pub, ideal for those wishing to eat next door and chat to the very friendly owners and locals. The cottage is a comfortable and welcoming base for couples from which to explore this stunning part of the county, complete with a cosy multi-fuel burner for those evenings when you wish to relax and unwind.
Falstone village is only a mile from the start of Kielder Water, located in the International Dark Sky National Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is a popular destination for amateur and professional star gazers and photographers. Kielder Observatory is only a few miles along the water, but be sure to check before hand as bookings are usually required (online). Honeysuckle Cottage is a great base for relaxing for couples, and there is no need to cook when the friendly owner’s pub is next door serving good home cooked food. The whole of the Northumberland National Park is perfect for those who enjoy adventure on the water, cycling, fishing or walking, and there are various visitor centres dotted along the water where you can stop for coffee or drinks and sit on the picnic tables outside. There is a popular bird of prey centre, and even a swimming pool and spa all open to the public.
The small town of Bellingham is 9 miles away and offers a selection of cafés, a few pubs and small shops. The historic town of Hexham is approximately 25 miles away, with Hexham Abbey, historic buildings and shops. Northumberland wouldn’t be the same without a day trip over to the glorious Heritage Coastline, another Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with miles of golden sandy beaches peppered with historic castles and friendly villages. Not as far as you may think, Alnwick Castle is only 50 miles away, where you can explore the cobbled streets and pop into the castle where the Duke of Northumberland still resides and which was used as a film location for Harry Potter. Northumberland is reputedly the friendliest county in England, and this base will allow you the freedom to travel each day to different locations should you wish. However, there is plenty to see and do should you wish to stay within the National Park. Shop 9 miles, pub serving food 25 yards.

Very friendly hosts who made us feel very welcome. The cottage was basic and rustic but that suited the location. Being in the grounds of a lovely pub was a bit too handy at times? The pub served hearty good quality traditional pub grub. I would recommend the cottage pie. Really fell in love with that part of Northumberland. The fantastic feeling of space and wide open country. The people were so warm and friendly and made us feel we were part of the community.

We had a lovely time at Honeysuckle Cottage. It is very quaint, and pretty. The Falstone Inn is a great pub, with restaurant quality food, but not at restaurant prices! The owners/landlords were really friendly and welcoming. Honeysuckle cottage is set amongst the beautiful Northumberland scenery, and is a perfect base for Kielder Water. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone who loves peaceful surroundings and excellent food.

I was a little worried from other reviews regarding the height of the upstairs rooms but it wasn't a problem. The location was excellent and the walks from the cottage were great. The cottage was warm in fact we turned the heating off. Katie who met us couldn't have been more friendly in fact everyone we met in the village were welcoming. I would have preferred a garden but due to the walks close by this was not a major issue. We visited several National Trust properties as well as exploring Kielder all within easy driving distance. Overall a lovely cottage in a fantastic location

This is a gorgeous and cosy cottage and we will revisit many times in the future. This is actually a review following our 2nd visit. Everything is lovely, the pub next door has fabulous food and and even better service. The only thing that would improve the cottage is if it had WiFi but you can get WiFi at the pub next door . I would highly recommend Honeysuckle cottage

A cosy cottage with some beautiful walks nearby. Access is through the pub beer garden (which sells amazing food and there is a great Gin menu to choose from). We stayed in April and had lovely weather. Owners are very accommodating and local people lovely. We enjoyed running/walking and would return to this beautiful, very quiet, relaxing village.

Very clean but the upstairs was not suitable for tall people and we found ourselves stooping all the time upstairs and it really needs a heated towel rail in the bathroom.
