Located just outside the pretty village of Winsford this detached cottage-style bungalow is surrounded by its own gardens and small wooded area. Winsford which is a short drive or brisk walk from the cottage has a village shop popular pub and a tea room. With its thatched cottages and ford in the middle of the village there is plenty to see. The cottage is set within the boundaries of Exmoor National Park and there are some lovely walks from the cottage into the surrounding countryside and moorland. This stunning area offers great walking for all abilities and there are some great spots to visit including Withypool Lanacre and Tarr Steps. There is also wide range of wildlife including deer and the famous Exmoor ponies. The town of Dulverton is worth a visit and has a good range of shops and restaurants. Looking towards the coast there is the medieval town of Dunster with its castle NT and onto the coastal town of Minehead which has a wide range of shops and amenities as well as the West Somerset Railway and beach area. Other areas of interest close by are Porlock and Porlock Weir and further along the coast are Lynton and Lynmouth the two towns being connected by the Victorian cliff railway. Fantastic cottage we love it but you have to remember there are no shops near. Loads of beautiful walks. The seaside about 25 mins away. Nothing but the sound of sheep and the river , bliss ❤️

We have stayed in this cottage several times. It is beautifully located. It was sad to see that it isn't being kept as clean as a holiday maker would like. Also there is ivy getting into 2 rooms,(it is mainly a building of wooden construction) which should have been noticed and dealt with.

Very warm cosy cottage and extremely well equipped. The views were fabulous and the nearby village of Winsford was so picturesque. We had hoped to walk the local footpaths but due to the torrential rain in the area for several days prior to our arrival the footpaths were quagmires and unwalkable, even with walking boots which was such a shame. Yes it is isolated but it’s not a problem if you come prepared. Good supermarkets at Minehead. The driveway is steep with no turning but we didn’t find it a problem reversing the car back down. Lovely few days break

Although the cottage seemed a little run down at first, it grew on us very quickly. A real home from home, with everything we needed. Warm and snuggly for Christmas / New Year break. Although the house was on a road, the valley was quiet and beautiful. We saw dear and pheasants from the windows. Lovely walks from just across the road - into Winsford in one direction, as towards Exford in the other. Location really good to be able to get pretty much anywhere in Exmoor National Park - from Lynton to Moors.

A pleasant thirties built cottage in a lovely location. It was a warm and welcoming place for a brief Christmas break. The cottage is adequately equipped and with both central heating and wood burning stoves on demand provides a cosy retreat from the outside when the weather was unfriendly. The housekeeper kindly provided tea, coffee, milk, biscuits etc. and also put up a Christmas tree to make us most welcome. Though not relevant to us, there are clearly some lovely walks direct from the cottage into the Exe valley and beyond. Hope Cottage is good value and well worth a return visit.

The stunning countryside views from every window make this cottage special. There are no other buildings in sight at all - just beautiful woodland, hillside and garden. Real 'get away from it all'! Our family of 4 were very comfortable and warm and the kitchen and dining room particularly spacious. Very well equipped kitchen. Good shower, good fast wifi. If you're bringing a dog, note that the garden is not enclosed. Though the walks directly from the cottage will make up for this! Little children will need to be supervised at all times outside, due to the steps and raised areas and not being enclosed by a fence etc. The nearby village of Winsford is very picturesque and has a pub and tea room.

Lovely cottage very comfy ! Beautiful views quite isolated but it wasn't a problem for us ,great pub in the village ,good food and very friendly. Has a couple of maintenance issues blinds etc but in fairness not easy to do with a 4 hour handover time ! Would definitely come again for a relaxing break thanks
