Sitting in 5 acres within the grounds of the owner’s home, both properties have been stylishly furnished with great attention to detail for guests’ comfort. Interestingly, the Lea Line disused railway tunnel is part of the land which can be explored. A natural spring stream runs through the peaceful grounds, with seating areas to relax and unwind, or enjoy some wonderful walking with access directly from the side of the paddock onto the public footpath network. This is a great central location for exploring Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and The Forest of Dean. Historical places of interest include Gloucester Cathedral with its fine central tower dating from the 15th century, and Hereford Cathedral with its Mappa Mundi Centre. The Forest of Dean offers an array of outdoor pursuits, cycling, walking, riding, climbing and fishing to name but a few. The picturesque Wye Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offers stunning scenery and canoeing on the Wye. Cheltenham is only about a half-hour drive and is especially popular for the Cheltenham Gold Cup and other horse racing festivals. The Literary Festival has also grown over the years to major international prominence, but festivals aside, the town itself is well worth visiting. Guests are also within easy reach of Ross-on-Wye and further afield, but within an hour’s drive, are the towns of Monmouth, Usk, Abergavenny and the pretty villages of the Cotswolds. Shop 2 miles, pub serving food ½ mile.

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage. Wonderful grounds, quiet and not overlooked.
Fun exploring the railway tunnel one night - using loaned wellies and torch.
The owners were so helpful and accommodating. Always contactable and on hand for any queries. Loaned us a bike which meant we could enjoy the local extensive cycle tracks in the forest of Dean. Cottage lacked for nothing - all necessary equipment. Only shortcoming was the fact that the clothes dryer was out of action but this is only a minor point - out of their control really.
Great base to enjoy all the local sights in the forest of Dean and beyond. Owners were a mine of useful information as well - particularly recommend the canoe trip with the Wye Pursuits Centre at Kerne Bridge.
A fantastic place to stay!
+ Brilliant Wifi
+ Modern bathrooms, great shower
+ Comfy couches
+ More than enough space for a family of 5
+ Fresh décor
+ Fully equipped kitchen
+ Friendly and helpful owners on site (they really are very nice and very helpful)
+ Quiet location
+ Close to / short drive to various pubs
+ Large garden with outdoor seating
+ Private parking
+ well priced / great value
- exit on to main road is not the best with a rear wheel drive car, thankfully for an A class road it is quite quiet.
We have stayed in quite a few holiday cottages over the years and The Barn at Hopebrook Farm would be very close to the top of our list in places that we have stayed.
The Barn was spotlessly clean, comfortable and well equipped. The owner was very helpful and welcoming. Excellent accommodation in a beautiful location.
Beautiful cottage in lovely surroundings. I would certainly recommend staying here. The kids enjoyed feeding the two Shetland ponies and exploring an old railway tunnel on site. The cottage is kept very clean we even had yummy flapjacks and milk when we arrived. Ideal for visiting Forest of Dean or Cotswolds area.
Probably the best cottage we've stayed in - great facilities, excellent hosts, beautiful garden and an ideal location for visiting everything offered by Forest of Dean - fantastic half term week!
Beautiful and spotless cottage set in lovely grounds. The railway tunnel is fun to explore and there is plenty to do in the area. The two ponies are so friendly and definitely love carrots! Would absolutely recommend.
The house was spotlessly clean , the cleanest I have ever stayed in .
The owners are lovely and very welcoming.
We had a fantastic week with our friends .
This is a beautiful holiday let in lovely countryside. Excellent hosts and everything you could need in The Barn which was also immaculately clean.

A beautiful cottage with everything you need and with lovely helpful hosts. Thank you
Lovely, clean cottage. Thoughtful welcoming gifts of milk, wine and home made flapjacks! Really friendly owner who was able to give time to talk to us about the area (great local knowledge) and show us around the cottage. Great stay!
This is a well equipped cottage. Absolutely spotless. Situated in a stunning location. Very well designed inside. Most of the furniture looked new. Very friendly owners who are incredibly knowledgeable about the local area and where to go. You can go on some lovely walks from the cottage around the grounds and the railway tunnel is great fun. The cottage has all that you need from champagne glasses to an ironing board.
We have a low car and the track down to the cottage does need careful negotiating but once you get the hang of it it is ok. However you do exit onto a bend on the main A40 and that definitely needs careful handling as it is quite dangerous.
