Hornby’s Barn (ref UK11694) and The Stables (ref UK11698) are semi-detached barn conversions set within the picturesque village of Kilham, high up on the Yorkshire Wolds. Formerly part of the village farms, the properties have been renovated to a very good standard, both offering large rooms with huge glass windows along the full length of the buildings, overlooking the shared garden to the rear. All bedrooms have been tastefully decorated and have deep mattresses so you’re guaranteed a peaceful night’s sleep. The properties are ideally placed to explore the Yorkshire coastline and the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds, making them a must for walkers, cyclists and families alike looking to enjoy this hidden corner of the East Riding of North Yorkshire.
Hornby’s Barn has a large farmhouse style kitchen/dining room with access to the pretty, shared cottage garden. Upstairs, the kingsize bedroom has a Jack and Jill style bathroom with both a bath and a shower. There are a further two double bedrooms. The Stables offers a large, beamed open plan living space. With the addition of a separate snug offering a small open fire and a day bed, this property is indeed very spacious. Upstairs, hidden in the eaves and with limited headroom, is the children’s play area offering a host of board games and bean bags. The two double bedrooms and house bathroom with sunken bath are all on the ground floor. Both properties have a private patio area with seating; an ideal area to enjoy an early breakfast or alfresco dining in an evening. The shared cottage garden attracts the sun for the majority of the day.
A short walk from Hornby Farm Holidays brings you to the centre of the village where there are two hostelries offering some real ale and great Yorkshire hospitality. For walkers and cyclists, the surrounding country lanes offer access to a network of public footpaths and bridleways which criss-cross the stunning countryside and limestone hills that surround the property. The historic Wolds market town of Driffield is only a short drive away, which offers independent shops, tea rooms, restaurants and even a weekly market.
Nearby, the stately homes of Sledmere House, Burton Agnes, Burton Constable and Castle Howard are waiting to be explored. The coastal towns of Bridlington, Hornsea and Filey are within half and hours’ drive away, offering promenades, ice creams and of course the usual amusement arcades and fish and chips. A visit to the chalk cliffs of Flamborough and Bempton RSPB Reserve offer spectacular coastal views. The historic city of York is under an hour away, making these properties an ideal base for a holiday on the Wolds. With private parking and a bike store, they are perfect for those attending one of the many classic car shows this area is famous for. Beach 12 miles. Shop and pub 100 yards, restaurant 4 miles.
The properties have an interconnecting door and can be booked together to accommodate up to 11 guests.
