Wonderful Grade II listed Talbot Lodge ref UKC3849 and Chetwynd Lodge UKC3942 can be found within the grounds of Staffordshire’s first conservation area Ingestre Village. They both occupy one section of the quadrangle which forms the ‘New Stables’ built by the 20th Earl of Shrewsbury in 1886 with the rest being occupied by Ingestre Riding School. The charming working stables environment means you will frequently see magnificent horses and ponies walking around the courtyard and grazing in the surrounding fields. Having been designed with conservation in mind both lodges have retained many original features of the beautiful Victorian building that has been painstakingly restored over time. Furthermore the elegant styling of the lodges was created by Oscar-winning designer Luciana Arrighi best known for costume dramas and excitingly many of the furnishings in Chetwynd Lodge have actually featured in films such as ’Anna and the King’ ’Women in Love’ and ’Sense and Sensibility.’ All of this combined together makes Talbot Lodge and Chetwynd Lodge a totally unique place to stay.\n\nIngestre lies in the heart of Staffordshire countryside on the edge of Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and for centuries it’s been the home of the Chetwynd-Talbot family who in 1858 inherited the earldom of Shrewsbury. Centrally located in the heart of England the location benefits from being within easy driving distance of many local attractions as well as the M6 motorway and Cannock Chase itself is a vast and beautiful forest covering a large part of the Staffordshire area where you can take part in a whole manner of outdoor pursuits. \n\nThe nearest large village is Great Haywood which is just 5 minutes away and is home to shops two pubs and a restaurant. Around 15 minutes away is the town of Stafford which has a wide range of shopping and recreation facilities together with excellent restaurants to suit every taste. The National Trust’s Shugbourough Hall the ancestral home of the Earls of Lichfield is around a 10-minute drive as is Staffordshire County Showground which hosts many events and antique markets on most weekends. \nStaffordshire boasts a whole host of visitor attractions and open countryside with the World of Wedgewood 30 minutes Alton Towers and Drayton Manor theme parks both 45 minutes the Peak District National Park 1 hour and Trentham Monkey Forest 30 minutes to name but a few. Finally you could book a riding lesson at on-site Ingestre Riding School play golf at Ingestre Park Golf Club and St. Thomas Priory Golf Course or perhaps try clay pigeon shooting at nearby Oakedge Shooting Ground. Shop 1 mile pub and restaurant 1¼ miles.\nTalbot Lodge ref UKC3849 and Chetwynd Lodge ref UKC3942 can be booked together to accommodate up to 16 guests. \n " https://img.chooseacottage.co.uk/Property/106/840/10653372.jpg UKC3849

A lovely cottage and a delightful setting - deep in the country on a working stables but within reach of all amenities. A warm welcome and geart peace!

We where a group of 8 ladies on a 50th Birthday an had a wonderful time. We had everything we could require. Are only 2 disappointing thing where that there was a lot of cobwebs but did understand that the ceiling are that high it must be hard to keep them away, the other was that there was a lot of hornets flying about inside. Think there is a nest outside the front door. But all in all a very lovely place to spend a weekend.

Great and helpful host, very comfortable stay and plenty of activities to do. The nearby Orangery a great venue for my husband 50th Birthday celebration. A great weekend getaway, and my kids got to ride at the stable.

Really nice place, hosts were lovely and attentive. Few cob webs around but apart

There is no doubting the absolute beauty of the building and the area especially on first impressions, and the quirks of a building of that age are to be expected too, however despite the quaintness and charm that were present in abundance, the place was in dire need of a thorough cleaning. While some cobwebs are to be expected, I couldn't even reach a plug socket behind a bedside table without becoming absolutely covered and had to use a spare dishcloth we'd brought with us in order to clear away those just around the bed and stands in our own room - each room had the same and there was no duster on site. Upon arrival to the cottage it was discovered the fridge had had something spilled that had dried and left a smell and had not been cleaned out properly plus the necessary number of towels had not been left; when this was brought to the caretaker's attention we were told we were welcome to seek alternative accommodation if this wasn't to our standards. And towards the end of the break when someone had used the upstairs shower, this obviously needed re-sealing/grouting as water later was discovered dripping through the ceiling and down one of the walls downstairs. I did ring to alert the caretaker but got an answer machine so left details but had no follow up to this so assume it's a known issue but again couldn't be sure. While these things didn't spoil the trip as the place truly is beautiful and with good weather I couldn't think of a better setting, it was a shame it doesn't seem better cared for as it's really a unique and stunning building with so much character.

A great location and a great space for group get togethers. It is still part of a working stables so lots of interest and activity not a problem but be aware. Hosts friendly and helpful.
