Staying in Cockermouth gives you the best of both worlds. Your nearest Lake, Bassenthwaite, is a great place to take in the stunning scenery and even has an osprey viewpoint. Located at the foot of the Skiddaw range it has fantastic walks and views across the Northern Fells. Bassenthwaite is also home to The Lakes Distillery offering tasting tours, only 5 miles away, and The Lake District Wildlife Park, a great day out for the family, only 6 miles away. The popular town of Keswick is 14 miles away and can be reached by car in about 20 minutes.
