We love staying at the cottage. It feels like home from home, warm, cosy and comfortable.

It's the time of year mice come in and unfortunately this house had some. Not pleasant. Especially in the kitchen.

Lovely cottage for a relaxing break. Very spacious and warm. Beds comfy and all creature comforts provided. Well equipped kitchen and laundry room. Cottage in a quiet location with the train station and shops within a short walking distance. The welcome pack and flowers were lovely. Very helpful hosts, even when the fridge freezer broke down a replacement arrived the same morning. Looking forward to returning.

We were made extremely welcome (incl. a generous welcome pack of food). The warmth, and general comfort of this extremely spacious house is first-class, with every kind of equipment and appliance you could think of. It isn't the most modern of properties, and some might think the decor old-fashioned - which it is. At the same time - and I cannot overstate this enough - this house/cottage delivers. Looking in the visitors' book, many people agree with this assessment - a number of whom have come to stay again.

We had a lovely stay in Scotland and in Isla Bank Cottage. The garden is very pretty and was nice spending time out there. Just a couple of things that I will like to add, we had a great time and the cottage is very nice and the caretakers are absolutely fantastic, but they were just a couple of niggling things. Which I will point out. The location is good, it is easily accessible by all directions and we used it as a base to travel all over. The town itself is very limited in terms of things you may need but there is a very good Tesco, which had a petrol garage attached which made life a lot easier. Overall the property is clean however there is just this underlying sense that things are superficially clean, especially in the living room which had some funky odours, some I think from pets previously and so we just didn’t feel clean in there so to be honest and didn’t use it much, I think we only sat in there once. It could do with a deep clean of its upholstery. Also, somebody, perhaps a previous occupant thought it was a good idea to leave scary messages of being eaten and killed in the windows, which whilst cooking tend to steam up, this had scared the children - who then no longer wanted to stay there. Upstairs is much more pleasant and felt cleaner, not sure about carpet on a bathroom floor. The cottage does need to have some modernisation done which can still be artfully done without comprising the cottages nostalgic value. The kitchen is dated and could do with an updated hob. The lovely and attentive caretakers left a lovely complimentary welcome pack which a lovely touch. I know these sound as huge negatives but the cottage in itself is lovely, and these minor issues can easily be rectified which would make the cottage a super place.

In general we didn't dislike our stay at the cottage. There were just a few things we were not happy with. In the bathroom is a skylight that is more than dated. Even if it is not opened, there is constantly paint and dirt flaking down onto the washbasin, which is not nice when your toothbrushes lie there. On the other hand there is no ventilator you could use after your shower, so you have to open the skylight and then even more dirt and old paint flake down. In the living and dining room the windows are painted shut, so we were unable to open them at all. I don't understand the reason for that. In the bedroom with the three beds you can open the window but it won't stay open on its own. A fact we very much regret because we like to sleep with an open window. The kitches is ok. All in all the carpets and furniture are dated and well used. The location is definetely on the positive side. Good accessability of the Cairngorms National Park the coast and the Speyside. Keith itself has everything you need for a stay in a self-catering cottage: a Tesco, petrol station, nice deli, two good bakeries, a distillery and several cafes. The welcome package left by the caretakers was a nice touch. We were able to get a reduced price for our week but we will not return.
