Lovely hosts, pleasant and relaxing cottage. The small outside seating area was a sun-trap in the evening, and the bed was very comfortable. A great base from which to explore the Wolds, with Hull and York both nearby. Only downside was the lack of height on the bedroom mezzanine (I’m 6’3”), but after bumping my head on the first night, I quickly learnt to be careful!

We had a great time at Ivy Cottage. It was perfect for our needs. The house is very comfortable and it is well equipped. The bedroom has a very low ceiling and a tall person might struggle a bit! It suffers a little from road noise as the road through the village can be pretty busy! It was not an issue for us but might be if you sat outside on a summer evening. The village only has a (very upmarket) pub but other requirements are pretty close to hand (2-3 miles). We came for a relaxing few days and Ivy Cottage certainly gave us that.

Fantastic cottage fully equipped, if it had a log burner and a telly on wall in bedroom I could live there all year round, will be back

The cottage is an attractive homely converted farm building next to the owner's home just off a main road in a pleasant village well placed for rural East Yorkshire but with Beverley and Market Weighton a few miles away. It is just for two, with a gallery bedroom area, but downstairs is spacious and comfortable - it was very warm and cosy, with a small garden and the paddock with rare breed sheep to look at through the windows and patio doors (in warmer weather a pleasant place to sit.) It was very dog friendly with water bowl and other useful equipment, and dog treats, together with easy to clean floors. It was good value for money and available for short breaks which was what we needed. The owners were pleasant, friendly and helpful.

The good: lovely coffee & walnut cake, tea on a tray to greet, very welcome after 5 hours of driving. Dog biscuits and water awaiting our Hattie. Our hosts were welcoming and dogfriendly. The garden was freely available for Hattie, but there are plenty of walks outside the garden gate. Cottage was very warm and cosy, décor delightful. There is parking right outside the door. Our week there was most enjoyable and relaxing. The bad: Nothing bad to report. Just a caution for those whose mobility may be impaired-the bed is upstairs on a mezzanine(lovely), the toilet is downstairs. There is a thoughtfully placed night light, but could be an issue if you had to hurry!
