An excellent cottage to spend quality time in the Highlands. We stayed in December and our main concern about the cottage had to do with the fan in the toilet that is embedded in the window and thus brings a lot of cold inside and also the kitchen window that is very very drafty. Also as far as local amenities are concerned, everything was closed for the season and the closest restaurant/convenience store was around 10 miles away at Fort Augustus.

Very cosy cottage, felt bigger than the impression the pictures gave. Good location for exploring the area. We had 2 dogs with us and it was great to have such a big enclosed garden. Can be a bit busy due to the Great Glen being right outside, and being next to a relatively busy business so may not be ideal if you are looking for privacy. Free wi-fi was an unexpected bonus, and the mobile reception was good for me too.

We spent a week here, enjoying the surroundings, the walks, the history of the canal, & the location of "Ivy Cottage" We've walked miles, visited interesting places & even climbed "Ben Nevis" We were even serenaded by a Piper ,who was rather good.

Mixed feelings! From the photos we were expecting a cottage in a rural setting but be warned although lovely wee cottage you are next door to a big boat business!not shown in photos! Cars regularly passing by and cyclists and walkers! The setting is lovely ie the hills and loch and canal but the cottage is Not on its own and it’s a big business next door! Not much privacy ! No complaints about the cottage itself ! It’s quite cute and comfortable ! friendly management !

It was exactly what we needed, a total break away from our everyday lives. The people at the Locks were friendly and helped to make the holiday a great success. The weather was pretty awful for quite a lot of the week, but the open fire more than made up for it. Snug and cozy. Would definitely go again. Very helpful on site owners rep. Some of the local facilities were shut for two days of the week, but we worked round it.

We had a very comfortable, relaxing week at Ivy cottage in the last week of February. It was extremely cold outside ( the beast from the east!) but we were warm and enjoyed the open coal fire. The kitchen was well equiped. Close to both Nevis Range and Glencoe so skied 2 days, cycled along Loch Lochy and did a lovely coastal walk one day as well as visiting Fort William and Fort Augustus on the Caledonian Canel so plenty to do! Would definitely stay in Ivy cottage again.

A lovely cottage in a stunning location. It had everything we needed a a week-long break. Having free fuel for the coal fire was a great help as it was very cold when we were there. There could have been better instructions on where to put old fire ashes and rubbish for dustbins. A visitors book would have helped as we wanted to tell other visitors about the great places we visited. Overall, we had a lovely time at Ivy Cottage and will definitely book it again.
