Please note There is a step to the garden. \n\n Keats Barn forms part of what was the Sun Inn situated in the picturesque village of Ireby near Caldbeck and Uldale. The building dates back to the 17th century when the inn was the focal point of the village. This stunning barn conversion sits in an enviable position and offers a combination of period style with contemporary fittings and finishes. Here ancient wooden beams a cosy wood burner and original stonework blend comfortably with modern appliances creating a rustic yet homely feel.\n\nIt is named after John Keats who visited the village of Ireby on a walking holiday and for whom the Sun Inn was a popular local haunt making favourable comments about the area and its people in his writing. Other visitors who favoured the inn include Charles Dickens and Wilkie Collins.\n\nDesigned to provide a stunning view over the Uldale Fells the property is arranged with the main living accommodation on the first floor. This large open plan living space with apex beamed ceiling offers a comfortable seating area around the wood burner and a well-equipped kitchendining area. The entrance on the ground floor opens into a bright hallway perfect for leaving your coats and boots to dry after a good day’s walk.\n\nThe gardens are ideal for your dogs and sitting and taking in the views. There is a firepit from where you can sit and gaze at the night sky with a mug of hot chocolate and some toasted marshmallows. Depending on the time of year you might see red squirrels at the feeding station bats and many species of birds including buzzards gold finches and house martins. Chickens live in the bottom garden and will provide you with fresh eggs for your stay.\n\nThe surrounding area is ideal for walkers surrounded by grazing sheep and an abundance of birds and wildlife. Ireby is a very friendly village with a local pub to join in with conversation and an annual music festival attracting leading performers. The hills at the back of Skiddaw and Blencathra are within easy reach and there are many gentle walks to be had around the local Ireby and Uldale area. The village is also served by a farm shop selling fresh milk and seasonal vegetables. Beach 15 miles. Shop 6 miles pub and restaurant 20 yards.\nKeats Barn can be booked together with The Sun UK13593 to accommodate up to 14 guests. Super mini break. Keats Barn is well placed to explore the North lakes. Its in a lovely quite location with great views. The cottage has everything you need, nicely decorated and very clean. We were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed complementary bottle of wine and fresh eggs. Nice to have your dog welcomed too. Perfect cottage and hosts, thank you!

What a cottage!!! Amazing views and the owners were lovely, everything we needed was there(even to the point they brought us some bread and bacon for breakfast). My daughter loved feeding the chickens and collecting the eggs. We will definitely be back. Thanks again

Stayed here mid January and could not recommend more. Great location very rural and cosy but also within walking distance of a lovely pub. Views from the back garden are unbeatable. The level of cleanliness and thought that has gone into this place is incredible. The cupboards are fully stocked to almost OCD levels(teabags ,coffee cleaning products etc) to really make you feel at home. Feeding the chickens in the morning was also a nice surprise.

Fabulous accommodation, and very dog friendly. Lovely welcome from the owner, with Prosecco and chocs and Xmas decorations to boot! Lovely local pubs with great food in Ireby (Emily’s Black Lion)and Uldale (Snooty Fox) and again dogs welcome. The village is quite isolated with many walks requiring you to be on the road, but barely a car goes by. The barn has a fantastic history too, making it all the more special. We’ll definitely be back!

Wonderful accomodation, completed to a high standard. Unlimited wood for burner, and nice and cosy, with a large back garden looking over fields and hills. Pub up the road, but check opening times. Some lovely places to visit nearby, exceptional place to stay.

We had a wonderful weekend at Keats Barn in November 19. Jen was an amazing host, there is everything you could want in this holiday let, the interior is lovely and clean and is dog friendly. Jen made us feel very welcome and left us a few lovely touches to welcome us. Wish all properties were like Keats Barn. Thank you for an amazing stay.

This is a beautiful barn conversion with its clients and doggy friends at the heart of its reason for being. There is everything that you need for a very comfortable stay. If you forgot your dog treats or their basket, don’t worry, that's been taken care of. With a bottle of wine, fresh free range eggs, bread and milk all ready to welcome you. We used the bed in the back bedroom and it was one of the comfiest nights sleep my husband and I have ever had away from our own bed. Jen & John make you feel most welcome and are ready on hand to give advice on local walks, attractions and where to eat. That said, the local pub is only 100 paces away from the barn door, where all the locals made us feel welcome and the food was delicious. Both my husband and I can’t wait to return next year.
