The gardens, complete with animal sculptures, have direct access to the beach. Fine sandy beaches can be found at Second Sands and to the south of Monreith. Rock pools on the beach are a haven for children searching for sea creatures. On adjacent land otters and badgers are no strangers. Minke whales, turtles, seabirds, porpoise, seals and dolphins have been seen in the Bay. Explore the beautiful Galloway Hills or the Solway coastline. Visit the distillery at Bladnoch, or explore Wigtown. Cycling, horse riding, golf, sailing and diving available in the area. Shop and pub 55 yards, restaurant in village.Killantrae Burn A (ref 27144) and Killantrae Burn B (ref 27145) can be booked together to accommodate up to 11 guests.

Loved this cottage and the views were lovely. just a shame we couldn't open the upstairs window to take a photo - our view had been spoiled by seagull poo. Also the wood burning stove hadn't been cleaned out before we arrived. The cottage was suitable for the two of us and central to beautiful countryside and woodlands. Would hope to visit again.
We had a wonderful, relaxing holiday, the cottage is immaculate and in a fabulous location for the beach. The local amenities were adequate for what we needed, it was a shame that the hotel is currently closed, as there was nowhere else nearby to pop in for a drink on an evening but that is a minor quibble.
We would highly recommend Killantrae Burn to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

Having stayed there last year, we found that problems we told the owners about then have still not been corrected e.g cooker hood broken so not usable.
Overall, we were disappointed to see how run down the whole property and garden was. We note that it is up for sale but don't think that is any reason to let things slide

I contacted the owner as soon as we arrived at this property because of the state it was in. She sent the cleaner down and I contacted the twice after the reclean had taken place because of the state of the property. I also raised an issue with the booking company whilst we were away. The family in the next door cottage - owned by the same person - was also filthy with dirty bed sheets etc. Both complaints are not being treated seriously, by the company or the owner. So, here's the list of things which were wrong for you to make your own mind up if you want to risk visiting this property. There are other lovely properties in the area to rent.
Property not clean
- bathroom bin not emptied of dirty sanitary towels
- tables with food and grease on them
- bathroom shelving dirty and stained
- sink dirty
- showerhead mouldy
- toilet flush only operates on one flush button not both
- extractor fan noisy, not working properly and full of fluff
- bathroom mirror badly corroded
- bedding not changed (stained in three places) but clearly sprayed with something like Fabreeze
- bedside cabinet drawers not been cleaned out - hair and fluff inside
- fridge not clean. It had a bottle of milk in when we arrived. That had gone after the cleaner had been on her return visit. We don't know whether the milk was out of date or it had been taken out of spite.
- extractor fan over cooker falling apart - literally
- plates chipped
- rugs stained
- stairs dirty full of fluff and hair
- television and DVD not working - this was reported as faulty in the first book 15 months ago!!
- lights not working in every room apart from the bathroom
This was an expensive property, but as it's for sale I think the owners have lost interest. When I spoke to the owner, she was trying to gain sympathy by saying they lived seven hours away and couldn't visit easily. So, because of that, I had to stay in filth??? Ended the holiday early because it was so bad.
