    > "Charming cottages situated in a scenic holiday location, which form an ideal base from which to explore the stunning scenery of the North Yorkshire Coast..."

Killerby Old Hall and its 7 cottages are ideal for a countryside holiday whilst being less than 2 miles from the beach of Cayton Bay. Guests can enjoy the nature reserve and lake area, or relax in the indoor heated swimming pool. The accommodation ranges from the Old Hall, sleeping 10 in period splendour, through to cosy Crow’s Nest which sleeps 2. Set in a pretty courtyard, each cottage is different yet has its own sitting-out area with patio furniture and BBQ.

Killerby Old Hall is situated between the coastal resorts of family friendly Filey, with its cobble landing and pretty promenade, and Scarborough, with its vibrant South Bay and naturally picturesque North Bay, located on part of Britain’s heritage coast. The Stephen Joseph Theatre, famed throughout the county, puts on a number of Alan Aykbourn productions. To the north, across the stunning North Yorkshire Moors, lies the port of Whitby; famous for its connections to Captain James Cook and Dracula. Robin Hood’s Bay, a former fishing village with a smugglers past, has quaint streets which lead visitors to a small, sandy cove and rock pools. Heading inland, find the historic market town of Pickering, where the famous North Yorkshire Moors steam train begins its journey. Access Dalby Forest through the attractive village of Thornton-le-Dale and be sure to stop for an ice cream. The forest offers a range of activities including mountain bike tracks, or for those feeling adventurous there is Go Ape. It is also a popular picnic destination which is surrounded by walks that the whole family can enjoy. Travel a little further afield to Castle Howard with its stunning house and grounds. The ancient, Roman walled city of York sits just an hour up the A64, a famously haunted city with many attractions such as the railway museum, river trips and excellent shopping. To the south along the coast, the Cleveland Way leads to dramatic Flamborough Head and the Bempton RSPB Sanctuary. The village of Cayton is a 500 yard stroll, with its pub, post office and shop. Full amenities are just over 4 miles away in Scarborough. Shop and pub 500 yards.

Redwood (KTQ) and Chestnut (IDS) lie close to one another and can be booked together to accommodate up to 12 guests whilst retaining the privacy of two separate homes.

Due to the weather, we didnt have the best time. The cottage itself is nicely situated and whilst not walking distance, it isnt far from nice places to go. The pool was an added bonus ,although not very big , it was really handy on the wet days. I would like to point out to anyone who is disabled though-dont make the mistake I did. Just because it has a downstairs bathroom and bedroom-do not assume it is accessible like I stupidly did. It is not in anyway suitable for people with mobility problems- we managed to muddle through but wasnt ideal

After staying in quite a few different cottages my opinion of redwood was very mixed , when we arrived first opinion was very positive laid out pretty for us for Xmas and looked cosy, although when we arrived the heating wasn't working so it was quite cold ,the heating was fixed quickly but it barn took a long time to warm up even with the log burner lit , after unpacking and the power was back on so a nice cuppa and a shower before bed , the towels could have been much better and only one small bath towel each , the shower pipe was split so a shower not possible so reported that to owners who sorted it the next day , even then it put more water over the floor than into the bath, so the towels were soaked mopping up the floor. We tried the pool the next day it was quite cool but I enjoyed the swim , looked in the games room that was very cold no heating but I think in summer it would be a useful addition, I found the double bedroom the easiest to use as nearer the bathroom , it was quite small but felt it needed updating the curtains were hanging by threads so difficult to open and close so left them closed , the duvet was barely big enough. But did manage some sleep. The kitchen is lovely well stocked but the equipment left a lot to be desired i.e knives blunt , peeler fell apart on use , no roasting tray so cooking a chicken or turkey at xmas was difficult to say the least , Pyrex bowls were chipped as were some plates , only 1 t towel for a week was not sufficient , also no cleaning liquid for the kitchen or toilet was provided , think it would have been better to also supply those basic needs i went out to buy them the next day also kitchen rolls ,cling film and foil as they weren't provided either , I have paid less in other cottages previously and those provisions were met. I think it was quite overpriced to be truthful not value for money , the location is lovely and probably better for summer
