Travel cot and highchair. \n\n Enclosed lawned garden with garden furniture. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking.\n\n This charming semi-detached former farmhouse dates back to 1750 and has been well-furnished to give a homely and comfortable stay. As you open the door you enter a spacious and very well-equipped kitchen having a full-sized fridgefreezer washing machine and all the equipment you need to create some lovely meals. If cooking is not your thing there is a pubrestaurant just a few hundred metres up the road or a popular village inn with an excellent reputation just a mile away as well as many other deserving pubs nearby.\n\nDownstairs you will find two good sized bedrooms and two bathrooms. One bedroom has a double bed and one has twin beds. The en-suite bathroom to the double room has a bath and shower over and there is a double-sized shower in the other bathroom all important for a lovely hot shower or soak after a day on the fells.\n\nSo why are the bedrooms downstairs? Well as you go into the upstairs living room you will realise the answer to this when you gaze out of the window at the stunning vista of Skiddaw and Ullock Pike in all their colourful moods. Could this be what draws you away from the large TV or your various phonestablets we have good Wi-Fi too?\n\nOutside you have a fully enclosed garden to relax in with a cup of tea after a day on the fells or swimming in the lake or seeing the many attractions. This is laid to lawn with flower borders and there is a garden table and chairs plus further deck chairs in the shed. If you have bikes you are welcome to store them in our locked garage.\n\nThe cottage is in a peaceful location down a private drive away from the main road. From here you can walk across the fields to the lake approximately 2 miles. There are some lovely swimming spots in Bassenthwaite whether you walk drive or cycle to it so don’t forget your swimming costume For other entertainment there are many Wainwrights to bag in the surrounding area or for the less energetic the Lake District Wildlife Park is less than a mile away a great family day out. Or you may feel the distillery is more your thing and this is also nearby. \nThe cottage is approximately 6 miles from Cockermouth and the same from Keswick about 15 minutes drive. Both towns have supermarkets for that essential food shop. In Keswick you can visit The Pencil Museum The Theatre by the Lake The Alhambra Cinema or hire a boat on Derwentwater. So much choice\n\nFinally a real bonus to this cottage is the warm welcome from the owners who live next door and are happy to give any help needed or advice about walks nearby.     Great cottage, lovely to have the garden which we used a lot as we took a portable BBQ. The cottage has a very homely feel and the kitchen is very well equipped. Great you can walk into Bassenthwaite village to the local pub.

    We highly recommend kiln cottage. It was very well equipped, well laid out, clean and good value for money. The owners were very friendly and the had left basic supplies which we appreciated. There was a good pub within walking distance. It was perfect for our walking holiday
