Kinder Cottage can be found in the High Peak village of Hayfield on the edge of the Peak District National Park, adjoining a traditional public house where you can expect a warm and friendly welcome. Comfortably furnished throughout, both bedrooms benefit from en-suite facilities and you can even opt to have a full English breakfast provided in the breakfast room next door (by direct arrangement with the owner, charges apply).

Hayfield has a wonderfully rural setting and is probably best known as the birthplace of Arthur Lowe, otherwise known as bumbling Captain Mainwaring in "Dad’s Army". More recently it’s also recognisable as the setting for BBC1’s blockbuster drama series, "The Village", starring John Simm. Hayfield is a popular destination for walkers due to its close proximity to Kinder Scout, which arguably provides the most famous, challenging and rewarding walks in the Peak District National Park. Less challenging is the Sett Valley Trail, a flat 2-mile greenway route for cyclists, horse riders and walkers that links Hayfield to the town of New Mills. Hayfield has a range of pubs, cafes, shops and restaurants and a whole host of other Peak District towns and villages are easily accessible. The famous market town of Chapel-en-le-Frith can be reached in around 10 minutes. Lyme Park, Edale, the caves of Castleton and the spa town of Buxton are around 20 minutes away, and the hugely popular market town of Bakewell, the Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall are around 40 minutes. Shop ¾ mile, pub 20 yards and restaurant ¼ mile.

We had a fabulous long weekend with friends and 2 dogs the situation was wonderful for walking and local pubs were great. We were made very welcome and the men enjoy football in the pub. Would recommend and will definitely visit again. Thank you very much 😀.

There was 2 couples Staying at the cottage for 3 nights the rooms were nice and clean , plenty of storage space in the kitchen but might add very limited on cooking utensils ie oven trays etc . Nice large fridge freezer both nice and clean . Good comfy bed but did suffer from a bit of road noise as the cottage is situated on a T junction. 2 of the doors unfortunately scrape the floor , so over time will cause damage , but overall clean and tidy .

Spotlessly clean. Not a lot of kitchen equipment but enough. Great central location to explore countryside or to get into Manchester.

Great place, will definitely go again. Obviously recently renovated and needs a few more bits and pieces AND vanity mirrors. Seating a little tricky but room size makes it difficult.

First impressions an untidy looking cottage, beer barrels, rubbish bins, logs, wooden planks, carpet and garden furniture lingering aimlessly outside. Things changed once we got inside a clean and fresh little cottage, but lacked in essential items to make the stay more enjoyable. Hand towels, scissors, crockery ( 4 main plates, side plates and dishes, found ourselves always washing up, over whelmed with glasses ok if you drink), oven and microwave dishes, seating for 2 only when eating, there was 3 of us so someone always had to sit on their own (need another bar stool and dining chair) to name but a few. In all do not plan to cook or eat too much whilst staying here. Road outside was very busy and made it a hassle both parking up and leaving the cottage.

Parking was 'challenging' as cottage is situated on a busy road junction. There is no pavement, no garden for the dogs, the tv is badly situated, we had to turn our heads when seated. The kitchen is excellent quality but lacked essentials such as d dishwasher tablets, kitchen roll, a dec ent teatowel, cling film - small touches that would have been welcome. Would have appreciated a hand towel in the downstairs toilet also a mirror. Also instructions for the tv ! Very noisy and unpleasant situation.

Cottage far too near the main road and parking was a hassle. The court yard is part of the carpark and extremely small. Considering it is a pet friendly cottage there is nowhere for the dogs to go to the toilet unless you take them round the corner and down the road to the walking trails. Not good when it is pouring with rain or if you have to go out in the middle of the night. We found the front of kinder lodge very dirty with refuse bins in front and fully loaded, stacks of garden furniture and tons of wood. Kinder cottage was very nice inside it did lack a few kitchen essentials like a knife block and kitchen scissors and it could do with a few more casserole dishes. Bath towels were provided but no hand towels ( lucky we took our own) there is nowhere at all to have a bbq. A little disappointed but we were made very welcome and the owners were very nice.
